DeSantis Finds New Dystopian Activity To Keep His Election Police Busy

I imagine Putin is overjoyed by this.

I think DeSantis is gonna make the Cuban Missile Crisis look like a nothingburger.

Nope those signature were verified earlier. This is another bite of the apple if you will. @yskov stated above the state and the group who collected the signature have already gone through the signatures. The group who created the petition made sure to get more signatures than were required because of challenges.

In MO the SoS tried to tweek the wording of the abortion amendment petition that is not the same as the wording on the petition when they gathered the number of signatures to get it on this fall’s ballot.
And now at the last moment two of the Republicans in the legislature that were always against this petition and a antiabortion group to it to court and a Republican judge agreed with them that the MO SoS shouldn’t have certified the petition to be on the ballot.
This is all fucking gamesmanship.

Ron DeSantis is living proof that Orwell had it right. One of the tenets of New Think was getting people to hold two mutually exclusive ideas and not see or bother with the conflict. “don’t say gay” and “free state of Florida”. “6 week abortion ban” but 70 % or more of Floridians want abortion to be safe and available. Free State. Putting on mask to avoid the spread of COVID is tyranny but forcing a 10 year old girl to bear the child of he rapist is not.

The “Free State of Florida” is not intended to tell folks people in Florida are free. It is intned to tell people the DeSantis freed them.DeSantis’s claimed his malfeasant handling of COVID made Florida an island of sanity. But in reality made it an islend of death.

O/T: I think I figured out what’s in the hacked Trump emails, that none of the media outlets will publish.

I bet it contains compelling evidence that the entire Republican party, at the national level, and in many states, is tied up with Russia.

Remember how there are all these R Senators and Representatives who have been visiting Putin and doing Putin’s work? And back in 2015/6 it was discovered that Mitch McConnell’s dark money juggernaut was deeply in bed with the NRA, and the NRA was revealed to be both staggeringly corrupt and also very compromised by Russian intelligence? (That’s where I first heard about Erick Erickson, and the Russian honeypot scheme he fell into.)

All of that has been marinating in complete darkness since 2016 – Biden took back federal government, but nothing has been done even to investigate how that melting pot of influence-peddling and corruption and treason that the GOP was brewing happened to turn out. The GOP rebuffed all the Constitution’s offers to help them get healthy.

I bet the Trump campaign emails implicate lots of the Murdoch/Koch/Trump/MAGA GOPers. Enough to at least justify lots of compulsory investigations.

If that’s accurate, then I imagine the reason they give themselves for not revealing any of it to the public is that they don’t know for sure it’s all true, and it would be wrong to harm the reputation of one of America’s two political parties without evidence. (And, all these orgs are ultimately headed by right-wing richies aligned with Organized Money. I’d expect every one of them to kill this story even if they had confirmation of its truth.)

Those people are going door-to-door in plain clothes, and indicate they are stalking the homeowner personally?

Braver than I am. Those Florida neighbors are rough, I hear, and Florida is very liberal on Stand Your Ground.

Anyway, fear and anxiety are a two-way street.

You’re arguing against my point by making it. I know the signature were verified prior to the goons knocking. They knew that too. But in order to excuse knocking to incite fear, their real reason, they had to have a reason that jibed with official biz. Hence the “just checking”.

My point is that it doesn’t matter if names were checked, double checked, or triple checked. Doesn’t matter if the organizers of the petition got double, triple, or quadruple the number signatures needed. The state, at DeSantis’ direction, were always going try and find a way to keep the petition off the ballot.
And I don’t care if it’s your point, my point- it’s Calvinball. And I’m fucking mad. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Trump will be in Tucson, at the Linda Ronstadt Music Hall, 260 S. Church Ave., according to his website.

… … … … …
I may hafta shower in bleach just to survive the day
And I doubt Linda is pleased with her name anywhere near trump’s.

Well…I live in Florida and DeSantis of late is fooling no one. It’s too late to remove an initiative even if the signatures were found to be bogus. Axing the initiative was not the point. It was axing people inclination to do it again on another issue. If there’s one thing a wannabe be dictator hates it’s being over ridden by those he thinks should accept subordination. That initiative goes against DeSantis’s grain so those involved must be fucked with to ensure they fear doing it again.

I would think the proper response to DuhSantis’ pigs is , “Yes that’s my signature, niw f$ck off.”

May Ron DeSantis be sorely disappointed, for the rest of his life. When women roar men tremble in fear.

Didn’t mean to yell at you, as I said I’m pissed at the gamesmanship there and here.

And when the Citizens of Florida pass Florida’s Amendment 4, what’s the fascist piece of sh*t going to do? Ignore it? Get his rubber stamp Republican legislature to pass laws that nullify the will of The People?

Thanks, to both you and @richardinjax. I was so incensed about the intimidation angle that I kind of forgot that DeSantis is also the kind of anti-democracy tyrant who would destroy a legitimate ballot petition on principle.

The GOP wants to put a DeSantis in every state.

Take solace in the fact that Ron’s done. He has no where in politics to go. he was beat up to badly by Trump for a POTUS run in 2028 and no one will remember him then. He’s got no path to the Senate and the House is beneath him. He’s a Second Coming of Jeb Bush…done and he did it to himself.

Well…to do that they’ll need a Charlie Crist in each state. DeSantis did not win that election. Crist lost it. He was a tired retread of a party switcher. If DeSantis ran today he’s lose here in Florida.

With all that happens in Florida and Texas and with the national Republicans, the MO Republican legislature and governor don’t get the attention and credit they crave. But they do plenty to mess up the lives of most Missourians.
