If DeSantis is elected everyone will just have to get with the pogrom. All the pogroms.

Funny, he’s just fine with federal government when he can funnel 92 million in taxpayer money to benefit one of his “good friends”.

And, some morons will actually believe him.

“Sure. But, does he remember which ones they ARE?”

Republicans are always wanting to abolish the IRS. Yet I never hear one of them propose what entity, agency or department is going to assume the administration and enforcement of the tax functions for the nation. Absent the IRS who’s doing their work?

I think, over time, it will become conventional wisdom that DeSantis made a bigger political error to actually name the departments he’d cut.

Ooops!

In 2011, during a primary debate, then-Texas Governor and presidential candidate Rick Perry (R) said he would eliminate three federal agencies. He named two of them — Commerce and Education — but could not remember the third one — the Energy Department.

Wasn’t Herman Cain the one that came up with the answer for Perry on the third one? These jerks are really not serious people. They’re really just actors on a very large stage vying for political legitimacy from a gradually smaller population of idiots, crackpots and malcontents.

I predict polling for this upcoming election will be so much worse than the last time for a number of reasons, which wrongly predicted the big red wave if you remember. All the same, no time to rest on our laurels.

Dems need to start defining these nutjobs for the crazy-making and delusions of grandeur that they exhibit. Take them on one by one or taken as a whole. Makes no difference to me just so long as we are out there making sure people understand how crazy their batshit utterances are and the damage it will do to the country. DeSantis is a dangerous, hate-filled and fascist-loving control freak. Rethugs are probably wondering, why go for an imitation when you could have a real bigot, hater and destroyer of all things in tRump?

“We would do Education, we would do Commerce, we’d do Energy, and we would do IRS,” DeSantis said in an interview with Fox News.

Education: Okay, all you Red Capped Trumpwits out there, any of you got kids in school with special needs? Guess where most of that funding comes from. Any kids headed to college? Guess what’s going to enable them to do that. Poor (rural!) school districts, anyone? Yep.

Because Pell grants, federal direct student loans, special ed, and Title I funding, taken together, make up the vast majority of the department’s budget.

Shall we do Energy next? It’s a really popular one for RWNJ cudget butters, I mean budget cutters, to screw up. Because you know what almost half of the DOE’s budget goes to? The National Nuclear Security Administration, that’s who. Still too many big words? I’ll make it even simpler, and try to get the pronunciation right: Nucular [sic] fucking weapons!!

Okay, but we can zero out Commerce, right? Wave bye-bye to the Census (whoops, mandated by the Constitution), the Patent and Trademark Office, NOAA (including the National Weather Service), NIST … and oh yeah, probably your next 9-1-1 call, too.

The whole IRS thing is just too stupid to even try to take seriously. But hey, if IRS scrutiny of rich folks is ever a thing, then some multi-billionaires out there might become slightly-less-multi, and oh the pain and suffering that would entail. Hell, they might even have to stop claiming SCOTUS Justices as dependents on their 1040 if this crazy “tax enforcement” thing gets really out of hand.

See, this is the kind of shit that happens when you stop teaching proper civics in skool.

There needs to be a comment on how dangerous is DeSantis and Trump’s overall approach to federal employment. They are proposing to return to the lawless corruption of the "Spoil System (to the victor goes the spoils) that existed for most of the 1800s.

From the story.

In October 2020, just two weeks before Election Day, Trump signed an executive order establishing a new Schedule F employment category for federal employees. Schedule F allowed thousands of federal workers to be designated as at-will employees, making them effectively exempt from protections that stop sitting presidents from applying political pressure on federal agencies and bringing in their own loyalists.

President Joe Biden rescinded the order shortly after taking office. But in March of 2022, Trump floated the possibility of bringing back Schedule F to go after the federal workforce if he’s reelected.

“We will pass critical reforms making every executive branch employee fireable by the president of the United States,” he said at a rally in South Carolina. “The deep state must and will be brought to heel.”

Make no mistake about it, what they are proposing is to turn all federal employment into temporary political jobs which is nothing short of a return to the “Spoil System” that existed between the election of Andrew Jackson in 1828 and ended with the murder of President Garfield in 1881. It means that all federal employees will be dependent for their livelihood on keeping the current regime in power. It also means that federal employees will also need to always be looking for a more secure livelihood or otherwise ways to make money by accepting gratuities from those they are suppose to be regulating.
