Trump lawyer Alan Dershowitz clashed with Fox News’ Chris Wallace over the stunning assertion he made last week during the Senate impeachment trial, arguing that “if a president does something which he believes will help him get elected in the public interest, that cannot be the kind of quid pro quo that results in impeachment.”
What blew me away was that Tightey Whitey was saying that the ends justify the means, something we have all been taught is false since we were children. Also, if the president does it on order to remain president, it’s not illegal. WTF? Now he admits to misleading the senators because he thought it was working? WTF!?
Dershowitz put himself on trial. And he stands convicted as a vile human being.
Addendum:
Signing off to have a politics-free day. The ascent of brazenness, vileness, and stupidity (let’s not forget stupidity) we are witnessing is too depressing.
We can read, Prof. Dershowitz, and we can see and hear the recordings. You said what you said and you meant it. Your destroyed reputation is nobody’s fault but your own.
This one’s goal is to be on TV. Imagine how much fun this is once you’ve detached your conscience—saying utter nonsense then sitting back to listen to the screams, followed by your next appointment to say that the last nonsense was misunderstood and the screamers are idiots.
I am beginning to think what I suspect is going to happen is starting in earnest. Overreach. They are pulling off the heist but just can’t help telling everyone they are pulling off a heist.
Meanwhile, they actually have no plan as to what to do with their proceeds. So expect it to be squandered and highly visible.
