House Foreign Affairs Committee chairman Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY) issued a subpoena to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday, demanding reams of documents that the State Department has already provided to Senate Republicans who are seeking damaging information about Vice President Joe Biden.
“After trying to stonewall virtually every oversight effort by the Foreign Affairs Committee in the last two years, Mr. Pompeo is more than happy to help Senate Republicans advance their conspiracy theories about the Bidens,”

Some important context is missing in this piece. What appears to be a good, aggressive move by Engel is in fact a morality play about Democratic ineffectuality and another reason to be happy that soon Engel will no longer be in charge of anything.
Grassley and Johnson received these documents from Pompeo “days after” the January impeachment proceedings.
Engel demanded that Pompeo provide the House with these documents on May 21, setting a deadline of June 1st.
Today is July 31st.

The only possible improvement I can suggest on that cartoon would be that the minions be made into Putin’s nesting dolls–including “Felonious tRump (love it!)”, of course!
The only thing that matters to Pompeo or Trump is the political calculus. I hate to say it, but without the Coronavirus, the narrative they are crafting would likely have worked (and, to be circumspect, it still could). No wonder Trump hates Dr. Fauci, creator of the Coronavirus.
None, but the House Majority has been researching implied contempt of late. Perhaps they could bypass DoJ and hire a private detective company to bring him in. Perhaps The House could “deputize” officers. Pompeo wouldn’t know what hit him until it was too late. I mean, Portland renditions, right. Precedent broken is precedent set.
