Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said Saturday evening that Democrats would “not provide the votes” for a government funding bill this week if appropriations for the Department of Homeland Security are included. The statement comes after federal agents shot and killed a bystander who was filming their activities earlier in the day. “What’s happening in…

Thank you. If there was ever a time to be unified, it’s now.

Be sure to call your senators. We’ll need to hold Dems to this position, and I don’t even want to imagine what sorts of (even more) degenerate actions the Miller administration will take to try to force approval for the funding.

I’m sick to my stomach and sick at heart.

Maybe Ayatollah Khamenei will bomb Mar-a-Lago to halt the execution of protesters.

Anything short of Abolishing ICE will leave in place Trump’s Gestapo. I can not imagine guardrails doing much good in an administration this lawless and unaccountable. It is well past time to actually act with the urgency of this present moment. Federal agents are daily violating the constitutional rights of American citizens. This is not business as usual and the response of our electeds has barely risen to mildly agitated. There is a lot on the line.

Fully in favor of stopping everything until ICE is brought to heel but, always the but, what are our demands here? Seems like we need to wrap our heads around what we’re holding out for. What specifics should we demand? I like abolish ICE. But isn’t Bovino CBP?

ANY “guidelines” will be unenforceable. Schumer just tries to come up with a way to cover his ass when he votes in favor.

WHEN will the new Murderers be named?

No restrictions on the Maga paramilitary will have any effect until Trump underbusses Steven Milller. As the optics keep getting worse and worse I start to think this might actually be an achievable goal with enough focussed pressure. Personnel is policy, Trump learned. Schumer hasn’t got the memo yet. Not a dime till Miller’s gone. That’s the demand.

Unfortunately with the oceans of cash the Bigly Stupid Bill shovelled towards ICE it can’t be defunded. The “best” the Dems can get is to put in some language about bodycams for better videos of the murders and put in language about uniforms and wearing ID and uniforms, which will be ignored. The terrorists have won as elections have consequences

Fuck the 7M who didn’t show up, and the Gaza sparkle ponies.

I’m confident Chuck Schumer does not believe that the problem with Auschwitz was that the guards lacked training. They were doing what they were trained to do and ordered to do. So is ICE.

Congratulations, Mr. Miller. You’ve managed an impressive accomplishment, unifying the Senate Dems like that. Well done. Now please choke on your bile.

Wonder how those seven House Dems feel about their vote now?

Oh, heck, let’s name them again:

  • Henry Cuellar (TX)
  • Don Davis (NC)
  • Laura Gillen (NY)
  • Jared Golden (ME)
  • Vicente Gonzalez (TX)
  • Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA),
  • Tom Suozzi (NY)

Be sure to let them know how much you appreciate their steadfast bipartisanshit.

I mean ship.

ETA: Sorry, fellas, no backsies. You can’t un-cast a vote. (Just ask Senator Cassidy.)

ETA2: I went out to The New Republic to get the list. The article contains this quote from one of the collabos:

Suozzi also argued that the funding bill was the “product of bipartisan negotiations and responsible governing” and would provide funding for those critical agencies and services without expanding ICE’s budget.

Marshal Petain himself couldn’t have put it better.

The ICE goons do lack training (and discipline and professionalism). There’s abundant proof of that.

So did the SA brown shirts.

Doesn’t mean they can’t also be following orders.

It’s 10:15 am Sunday morning, a little over 24 hours since the murder of Alex Pretti, and my “Dem” senator, John Fetterman, has yet to make a statement.

I’m waiting for Senator Joni Ernst to record a video in a graveyard, still waiting.

Chuck hasn’t said anything either, but he did pose with the grieving Erika two days ago.

So I have that going for me.

Patty Murray seems determined to illustrate, by supplying quotable quotations, that for someone in politics she has little grasp on either politics or power.

Except a Border Patrol agent murdered Alex Pretti.

I have successfully resisted the urge to make a series of rude, ad hominem remarks about Big John. Wow, even the Big Papers (Post and Times) have videos up which go to great lengths to show that the Noem story about the Pretti shooting is an absurd lie.

Yes, thanks. CBP often gets lumped (lumpen?) in with ICE in a lot of the discussion. Less pronounceable acronym, lower profile.

Apropos of nothing, how’s everyone surviving the latest “Storm of the Century”? Here in ABQ, we got about an inch of snow and it was +22 F just before sunrise. Pretty lucky! Better yet, it’s a weekend, so there is no commuter madhouse on the roads, some of which had already been salted/sanded.
