House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said that they offered to take the topline of their relief package down $1 trillion if the White House negotiators would offer an additional $1 trillion in their proposals.
Negotiations are hampered by the fact that the Mango Milosevic thinks he can just wave his Magic Presidentin’ Executive Order Wand and give the GOP everything it wants, and nothing the Dems want . . .
Great, now the economy is going to be in shambles by September and it is all on the Repukes. At some point the stock market is going to tank, let’s see how they respond then.
THIS is ‘Mark Meadows’…Never a solution, always an impediment. He has no record of ever DOING anything. Now he needs to act like a tough guy for Donnie or he’s out of DC for good!
Donnie says that Biden would “hurt God and hurt the Bible.” Well, maybe Donnie and his minions should put money where their mouths are since they like to cloak themselves in Scripture. To wit:
1 John 3:17-18 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
There are two kinds of Teanuts. There are the kind whose obdurate, willful stupidity can be shaken when the predictable consequences of their obdurate stupidity threaten their reelection chances and then there are the ones like Meadows whose willful stupidity is impenetrable and unshakable, not least because they know that eventually, people with a modicum of foresight will shove them aside and get the deal done.
And now he’s the negotiator and there’s no one who can shove him aside and get the deal done.
And they’re both stupid enough to think this is all about politics and perceptions and that having Trump sign a bunch of illegal, unenforceable, meaningless orders is just as good as doing something.
It’s just a few weeks until September so basically we’re screwed as of right now.
Republicans can’t even agree among themselves on a counteroffer. Even if an agreement is hammered out — and there’s no sign that this is imminent — it will be weeks before the money is flowing again.
The suffering among cut-off families will be immense, but there will also be broad damage to the economy as a whole. How big will this damage be? I’ve been doing the math, and it’s terrifying.
It would appear Republicans have given up on any attempt to forge a compromise within their own caucus, and have fallen back on an EO from Trump as their only way out.
This means Trump owns it lock, stock, and barrel. It’s all on him, and it will go poorly because it’s Trump. #ETTD.
Republican Senators up for re-election are well and truly screwed. Whatever Trump decides to do will be inadequate to the task at hand.
