Dems Fight Against Trump’s War On Mail-In Voting

Several prominent Democrats on Sunday made clear that they’re not taking President Trump’s explicit efforts to cripple the U.S. Postal Service lightly.

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://talkingpointsmemo.com/?p=1326241

They need to add this into the discussion as well.

A friend just now called my attention to this little ditty.

“But the post office has been stolen
And the mailbox is locked”

Exactly! It is a crime to interfere with the US mail. What’s the point of laws if the wealthy crooks always get a pass? Just because he is a traitor from within does not excuse his malfeasance. DeJoy needs to be charged, tried and jailed and Dems. should be very straight about the intention to charge him.

Biden’s lead is now 8.6 points in our national polling average. Similar to or very slightly higher than the past few weeks, when it was hovering around ~8.0. At least one more big poll (@ABC/ WaPo) coming out before the conventions start tomorrow

Sen. Schumer: “Speaker Pelosi and I are looking at having a standalone bill – the House, she can call it back into session… I hope she will. And then I will ask Leader McConnell to call the Senate back in session.”

And Leader McConnell will send first class letters to all of the members of the Senate and ask them to respond by mail by Wednesday. If he doesn’t get enough responses for a quorum, he will assume that they don’t believe it to be an urgent issue.
I also heard that Oklahoma was one of the states to get the letter saying that the USPS could not guarantee that ballots could be delivered in a timely manner. So I’m assuming that the actual state of the USPS has nothing to with the letters, nor does the electoral potential for a state. It’s all part of the media blitz to discourage voting absentee or by mail.

:stop_sign: the signaling…
Just. Do. It.!

Something to keep in mind per @JoyceWhiteVance

What’s going on at the Post Office right now may or may not involve criminal conduct or ethics violations, but the statute of limitations for fed’l crimes is 5 years, which means if Biden is elected, it’s all coming out. No Postal employee should comply with an illegal order.

Head up Democracts!

This won’t change anything…the sad fact is that the administration has control here, and since the Senate Republicans will do nothing we’re stuck with this until after Trump is out of office.

What this does is make it clear what is happening, and the reasons why…sticking Trump and Republicans with the responsibility of the USPS failing is critically important. No administration has ever had a failing mail system, the mail has always just been there. It’s a huge mark against them that this is happening, and more importantly that people are seeing issues all over the nation. Paychecks are not being delivered, medicines, all kinds of stuff, and mail just isn’t showing up normally. Everyone knows this is happening, making it about the mismanagement of the Trump administration, their intentional attempt to destroy the mail system, makes a clear point about how they govern. Adding on that it’s happening to undermine the election is just icing, really…for some people they won’t care, but the USPS has a 91% approval rate, even Trump supporters are going to be pissed off by this failure.

I get Schumer sounding off, but while Moscow Mitch may play-rope-a dope like he’s going along with the Congressional outrage, in the end given his lack of a moral compass and a spine, he himself will not do sh*t. He’s a Trump jellyfish. That means that if the Senate has any power in this, The Turtle will not act in the best interest of this nation. He is as much a traitor to our country as is the grifter squatting in and stinking up our White House.

To this very minute I still don’t know why they (Trump& Crew) thought this (Slowing Mail) was a winning strategy.

I suspect Biden’s new AG will have a full plate for some time after January '21.

I am tired of the fucking bullshit and the Dems being polite.
Come out smoking hot, file charges against the Postmaster General and anyone in Postal management who delays the mail or shut the fuck up and let Trump have his way.

You do realize that it’s the purview of the Department of Justice to bring any charges, right?

And last I checked, that was run by a guy who isn’t charging anyone associated with a certain occupant.

I am sure Trump is going after the postal service, but as with everything Trump he is so convinced we are going to ignore this crime that he has been willing to admit it in the open. I don’t know about you but that makes me mad. We have to make sure everybody knows that it is the policy of the Republican party to do everything they can to stop people from voting.

What a bunch of baloney The Dems come up with too many phony issues to be believed anymore. The Postal Service has been going bad for decades. There’s nothing to be done at this time so far as the election goes. They just want another blame Trump crisis.

There are more things in heaven and earth , Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.
See Bill Barr.

It’s not.

In some areas, more GOP voters vote by mail than Democratic voters do. They are cutting off the votes of their own voters to spite us. It’s insane. It’s going to blow up much bigger by next week I suspect.
