Dems always back down!

It’s like they can’t help themselves, like it’s in their DNA. I’m a Dem? Must back down.

The call was entered into evidence. This trial was going to end in “acquittal”—at least 34 Republicans voting not guilty—no matter what was said or done. Let all of the senators go on the record and move on.

Let’s hurry up to end the trial we gotta go on vacation!

This is a tough one because I’m not sure it would change a single vote. But at least the GOP congresswoman is on record.

Here’s what I do know… When I open up my grandkids history books in 15 or 20 years, the despicable, criminal behavior of DJT will be there and the humiliation of the GOP will be complete.

You cannot reason with or negotiate with terrorists. At this point, Republicans are terrorists. They are unswayed by facts and supportive of violent, cult-following, gun-loving a–holes.

I think the headline is unfair; as is the masthead "“Dems Quickly give Away their Advantage.” During the impeachment proceedings, getting to regular order – read “COVID relief”, “infrastructure bill,” confirmation hearings – requires unanimous consent. (The dictionary definition of “unanimous consent” is a picture of Hawley or Cruz objecting.) Extending the impeachment for two more weeks would only delay those priorities of the Administration, with little hope of success in the outcome.

This is a rational compromise: get Butler’s statement into the record as a stipulation, putting the testimony in front of the Senate for the Repubs to accept or reject, and move on. Sounds adult, if you ask me.

Hard to understand the logic of the tweet. She’s apparently been telling this story to anyone who would listen since January 12. Now it’s a stipulation on the record.

Falls on deaf ears when they are going on break.

The headline is an unconscionable disgrace.

American politics has always been ‘story telling’.

Hard to understand who (other than Trump’s base) thinks this is a great story to tell the electorate.

Narratives are all-powerful, and political support is tenuous; use them decisively as opportunities arise, or they’ll vanish faster than you can tell voters, “You just don’t understand – let me explain…”

Are they holding back because DOJ is investigating complicit Senators and Congressmen?

You really want to spend two more weeks on this shit?

I would have liked to hear it from her on the witness stand and for it to be telecast around the world. And for followup questions.

Impeachment had to be done, but in addition we need a thorough investigation of Jan. 6th. A commission and a 9/11 style report would be good to have. There is a lot we still don’t know. Then criminal prosecution of Trump.

Don’t hold your breath on DOJ investigating any of this.
