Prominent Democrats echoed Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s (D) call for the public to roundly condemn President Trump a day after he joined his supporters’ “lock her up” chants during a rally in Michigan.
Not sure of her background, but a President Biden SCOTUS nomination for Governor Whitmer would make the boi’s tiny heads explode. Along with nominating Merrick Garland.
It seems the entire Trump world lacks any understanding of decency and civic responsibility. So sad that there are average Americans that think this is not only normal but the desired behavior.
I am just so done with every article being focused on Trump this and Trump that, and someone’s response to Trump this and Trump that. Whatever will so-called journalists do when they have to go back to covering facts and policy with a competent, no-drama, Biden administration? Why do I bother asking. They will probably continue with the low hanging Trump idiocy, because, “ratings.”
Condemning such behavior shouldn’t be a hard thing to do. That such actions are, in any way, newsworthy is rather sad. In 20 years will anyone believe that a U.S. President once cheered the attempted kidnapping of one of our state governors? Probably not.
Within two years, Republicans will already be trying to spread the rumor that Trump was a Democrat and ran as a Democrat. Sigh!
This is not only the right thing for Democrats to do (and, frankly, Republicans should join in), it also helps Democrats consolidate the female vote -whether college educated or not, suburban or rural, wealthy or poor, white or nonwhite, I suspect it speaks universally to all women across the board.
If the Democrats can bottle this intrepidness into January, with just a few bold strokes, we can thoroughly remake the federal government to one that actually speaks to the needs of the majority of the American people.
1). Abolish the filibuster.
2). Add Justices to SCOTUS and remake the lower courts as well.
3). Aggressively investigate and prosecute all crimes committed by members of the Trump Administration and all others, over the last four years letting no one off the hook.
Yes, common decency is the antidote to this horror we are experiencing. This economist says it so well in a few words.
I am so tired of name-calling, hate, rudeness, self-serving lying, and divisiveness. Just exhausted of it. Deeply exhausted, down to my bones. Aren't you?
But I do want Congress to name his seat on the SC the “Merrick Garland Associate Justice” chair, kind of way endowed chairs are done at universities (“The John Smith Professor of Economics,” or whatever).
So that Gorsuch has to forever be introduced that way. When he gives a commencement talk at some high school: “Let us welcome the Merrick Garland Associate Justice of the USSC, Neil Gorsuch!” Whenever they vote: “And how does the Merrick Garland Associate Justice vote, aye or nay?” Whenever he’s mentioned with his title in the press: “Today the Merrick Garland Associate Justice Neil Gorsuch said …” And it’s on his letterhead: “Merrick Garland Associate Justice Neil Gorsuch, Room 12, Phone 555-121-2121…”
To remind him and everyone else that it’s not his seat, every time he’s ever mentioned.
ETA: Oh, and it goes on his clerks’ titles and resumes: “Jane Doe, 2019-2020, clerk for the Merrick Garland Associate Justice Neil Gorsuch”
Personally I think it’s news when the president supports calls to jail critics. Seems like that’s at least as wrong as reporting on it and should be criticized a little bit as well. Also I find it remarkable that you can predict the future wrongdoing of the media, specifically that they won’t report with any enthusiasm on the doings of a (hoped-for) new administration. You do realize that Trump’s “ratings” are “falling” because more and more people are finding him “boring.” I think it would be remarkable if he got as much coverage, say, three months into being a private citizen with a big mouth and a lot of legal trouble. But of course you seem sure of this so I guess that’s what will happen.
And for the last few years, no D should open their mouth without asking why there are No Reptiles who ever condemn anything, no matter how vile, unconstitutional, or illegal in Chump’s actions?
Every single question should be, well we all know that Chump was a two-bit criminal before Rs chose to give such a low-character all that power…but now our problem as a country is that Rs are too terrified, too weak, too cowardly to raise even a single objection to the president’s crimes.
The first time “Lock her up” was said at a rally every Republican who holds office should have gotten off the Trump train. There is no forgiveness for that.
Well, I guess until we flush the GOP out of that city and reinstall an administration and Congress with a modicum of decency and civic virtue we might as well take the word “should” out of our vocabularies, since it won’t be relevant to what’s actually happening.
There’s never a bad time for decency, but now is an especially good time for that. And there’s not a more decent fellow than Joe Biden. If you gave me just one word to describe the Vice-President, it would be decent. I still marvel at how circumstances evolved and the stars just aligned to (hopefully) give this good man the Presidency, when it seemed the job was forever destined to be just out of his reach.
Lara Trump said he was just having fun chanting “lock her up” at yesterday’s Michigan rally. What kind of adult finds their fun mocking people, inciting violence or locking up people before being convicted much less without having committed a crime?
He is one sick puppy. He must be voted, out along with all who aided and abetted him. They all knew all along just who he was and had a chance in January to put a stop to the madness.
