So the GQP could overrule it, ignore it, regardless of how bad it is. I mean, that’s pretty much what happened in the previous two impeachments, right?

In the interest of mood management I didn’t click through.

I also didn’t see, but unfortunately have to assume, whether the principal in question was female.

There’s no way in hell these cowards would’ve done this to a man, but I could be wrong (50/50 chance that I am).

Tucson is blue, but the immediate hinterlands are bright red, like Vail or Picture Rocks. Trump country. Their behavior doesn’t surprise me at all. Arizona is a microcosm of the urban/rural, liberal/conservative, secular/fundamentalist religionist divide. We’re like Turkey in a whole other semiarid. Erdogan gets his support from the rubes, not the folks in Istanbul or Ankara. Bet it’s the same with Orban in Hungary.

Democracy is born in cities, not the pasture.

Congress can’t control the original jurisdiction of the SCOTUS outside of a constitutional amendment but it does have authority over the appellate jurisdiction and could determine what the court is allowed to hear.

Yes, of course. Removal from office is deliberately difficult. Nixon only faced it because all the Dems in the Senate hated him and the GOP hadn’t completed its ideological realignment into a fascist mafia party.

Now that’s what I call a wonton disregard for the Governor’s feelings.

No, that was this, from upthread:

My blunder. Still a good pun though.

I know we’re all upset at the current state of affairs, but the idea of packing the court sounds dicey to me. If it works, then what stops the next Republican President with a Republican Congress from doing the same? Not enough hardcore conservatives? Just add some more so you get the rulings you want!

We would find ourselves in something even worse than the current situation, where each government turnover gets exactly the bias it wants on SCOTUS, without even having to wait for someone to die off.

Similarly, prayer is not banned in public schools. Kids can pray all they want in public schools.

I am actually glad the Supreme Court did what it did because it ends the subterfuge Roberts has used to allow the media to argue the “Roberts court” is anything other than the enforcement arm of Republican attempts to subvert the constitution and democracy and replace it with a Vladimir Putin style Government.

That is there are six “craven assholes” or as I call them, “Injustices” as you are forgetting the biggest most cynical of all them, Chief Injustice Roberts himself.

The only reason Roberts is not with the rest of them on this and other decisions is that Roberts does not want to make it to obvious that “the Roberts Court” is controlled by kangaroos. That is the only real choice the majority of the Supreme Court uses to decide every issue is what will help Republicans keep and hold power.

Roberts had been trying to at least allow for colorable arguments that the Roberts court is other than merely the enforcement arm of the Republican Party. Thanks to 5 “junior” injustices, Roberts game is up and that at least is positive.

There is actually debate on whether the age limit would need to be a constitutional amendment. Life tenure in their office as a federal judge is protected, but there is no constitutional reason that they can’t act as other senior judges do on more of a substitute basis in the circuits.
