Over the weekend, billionaire Elon Musk gained some level of access to the Treasury Department’s federal payment system, thanks to the pliancy of newly confirmed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. Fiscal Assistant Secretary David Lebryk, the highest ranking civil servant in the department, had reportedly fought Musk’s access since before the inauguration, and sought backup from…
Modest proposal: senators and representatives find some courage and start a sit in. They should occupy the floor of both chambers, preventing the business of the state from moving forward with their bodies if they must.
This is what you have been keeping your powder dry for, minutemen.
Kafka thinks this is Kafkaesque.
Extraordinary times require extraordinary measures.
Forget all the blather; it is time to act.
I wrote my congressman today asking what I can do to help them get their sht together. [Not in those words.]
Finally, they’re saying words other than “illegal,” which is kinda milquetoast for what’s happening here.
This, please. Again, without ceasing:
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) said outside the USAID headquarters Monday afternoon, adding: “We don’t have a fourth branch of government called ‘Elon Musk,’ and that’s gonna become real clear.”
Or as Wyden put it: “They are seizing the tools they need for a coup.”
Question: with Trumusk in control of DOJ, Treasury and FBI, how do Democratic objections get operationalized? Even if Republicans joined them in objecting, which they damned well should, it is not clear how this coup can by stopped by any legislative action they can take short of impeachments (plural).
If they violate a court order, the US Marshals should arrest anyone who does it.
If the courts don’t work, and Congress doesn’t work, and the executive branch is corrupt, then we urge the members of the military to remember their oaths, and what they were to.
I sincerely hope that there are some career military officers consulting among themselves and possibly with 2 or 3 Congressional leaders. It is the only action available that will put a stop to the lawlessness of the executive branch
I emailed my congressman Quigley (Chicago) to use his voice everyday in all media to resist and protest the actions of the orange menace and his goons. Quigley was sure quick out of the gate to get rid of Biden. So I told him to show the same level of energy now against Trump.
This is where we are: hoping for a military coup. In America. JFC, the world is spinning backward.
Musk and his stooges’ access is “essentially a read-only operation,”
Read-only means you can make a copy.
As per Trump’s “delay” of tariffs on Mexico and Canada (which they agreed to do things they are already doing), WH press secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked for additional comment on the call to Trudeau. Reponse:
“Canada is bending the knee, just like Mexico.”
Jebus, the bloody arrogance is astounding.
On the plus side, they have identified 6 “DOGE Musketeers” aged 19-25 responsible for the illegal break-ins and corruption of secure/classified data systems. MAGA world is OUTRAGED at this doxxing. “You have committed a crime,” Musk fired back
Musk is not the president therefore he does not have immunity. He and his 20 somethings should be arrested by the DC/capital police.
I now live in Belize, I decided over a year ago that there were far too many voters ok with having tRump as a candidate for POTUS. But I NEVER thought he would actually be reelected. This was totally foreseeable, he told everyone what he was going to do. A military coup is the only hope that I see for my former country
We’re not going to have a military coup in America. If it gets the point where that’s what we are asking for, it’s far too late. When I said above that we need to remind the military of their oath, that is exactly what I meant. We need to remind the military that they need to follow the law, and respect the Constitution. A coup does not do that.
The way this ends is with the public rejecting Trump. This requires, first and foremost, that the public know what Trump is doing. That is the point of protest, that is the point of performances like a protest by sitting Congress people on the floor of the house.
You mean the same public that just got thru electing him ? Despite being a convicted felon and being found guilty of sexual assault ? They’re not going to reject him, those still paying attention will see all of this as features , not bugs. I’m not sure how anyone could expect the general public to do shit at this point.
Yes. That is exactly what I mean.
They need to have Raskin teach the rest how to do this and then do it 24/7.
Well, I genuinely wish you the best of luck with that
It’s critical to understand that not all of us have the privilege of leaving America, and the only way a democracy can change is if the people change.
I have to believe that the people will change, and even if I don’t believe it, I have to try to make it happen.
