I really think it would be nice to have someone technocratic like the parliamentarian or clerk running the house, obviously someone a little more public than those roles.
I’m not sure if that is the little man with big feelings, but outside of member’s own aspirations, why shouldn’t the Speaker be a ref instead of a coach?

I hadn’t known that he was only 5’5. Somewhere like congress that’s going to turn you into either a brilliant politician or a complete roid-raging assh*le in short order. By now he’s probably about 5’3, i.e. shorter than Nacy Pelosi in shoes.
(That, plus the cognitive effects of traumatic brain injury longterm definitely include inability to control anger and reduced executive function.)

If the only thing to come out of this debacle is some more justice for those wrestlers, that’s great! Also that whole story was yesterday’s news until Gym decided to run for speaker. Now it’s relevant again.

Generally the body goes before the mind.
In my life I have been very active. Hiking, cycling (my passion) and traveling worldwide. I’ve lived in the US and Mexico (beautiful country and people) and visited 47 countries. And my science for 40+ years. These days arthritis and sciatica (pinched nerve at the spine) and chronic pain have me slowed down. But not bad for a kid who survived polio before there was treatment. I admire Biden for the guy he is outside politics.
