Would be very tempting to all verbally promise to support Jim, get Jim to tell the press he has the votes, then vote for someone else on the floor.
But not taking his calls is probably classier.

I didnāt think there was anything wrong. I thought the holy shit was at the thoughtfulness of the remarks. I find Biden extraordinary in that clip.
Well, if thatās your kink, I suppose youāre welcome to it. Myself, Iād far rather get to tell him: [redacted by moderators], or [redacted by moderators], or perhaps, [redacted by moderators], and then maybe vote for Liz Cheney when the roll call is made.
And Putin owns the guy living in the penthouse.
apology in advance for running with this yet again - but there is ample reason to question Jordanās reasoning & cognitive abilities - seriously -
The concussion study, examined data reported to the NCAA by athletic trainers and estimated that over a five-year period, wrestlers suffered proportionally more concussions than athletes in any other sport.
USA Wrestling noticed that a technique called the reverse lift, in which a competitor hurls his opponent backward to the mat, was producing an outsize number of head injuries, so it banned the move for all but the most elite athletes.
(this change was long long after Jordanās lengthy career)
Olympian Jake Deitchler left college wrestling in 2012, telling the New York Times he suffered from memory lapses and fogginess.
Meredith Buskard, a former Appalachian State University exercise science graduate student who has researched the subject, said subconcussive impacts might pose a bigger issue for wrestlers than most think. In a study awaiting publication, Buskard looked at cognitive tests a group of college wrestlers took before the start of every season. Those with a history of concussions had lower than expected scores; Buskard said while the cause wasnāt clear, she thought continuing jolts to the head might have prevented a full recovery.
āItās hard to quantify subconcussive blows in wrestling,ā she said. āItās one of the sports that no one really talks about, but itās one that I think poses a big risk.ā
Pure speculation - but - certainly would not be shocked if this is connected to Jordan never taking the bar - possibly having taken practice tests and being forced to recognize that he just couldnāt withstand the rigors of the test ā¦ and possibly connected to the raging random outbursts and irrationality & unhinged bombastic claims ā¦ pure speculation - but the guy seems - with respect to basic reasoning - to be impaired - substantially .
and it is well beyond plausible - grade school level wrestling, junior high wrestling, High school wrestling, college, post college Olympic training - and bear in mind at Jordanās level - he was pretty much working at it all year round from a very early age - if there was some viable way to get a count of the concussions that Jordan has had - would not be surprised it it was in the 40s - 50s or more if you factor in the āsubconcussive impactsā - and this adds up - this changes people - it alters their cognitive abilities
I think Dems are handling this whole situation brilliantly.
I have in the past accused Dems of bringing knives to gunfights, being willfully blind to the very obvious fact that their ācolleaguesā across the aisle are undisguised arsonists. I am optimistic those days are over. Maybe even in time to save us. I did not have that on my bingo card.
OT: glad Kate shared a pic of the āhandcuffsā brochure. Helps me gauge how sophisticated the Dems are in their strategy and messaging.
Also glad to see that Congressfolk take TPM reporters seriously. This was once just some weird guyās blog. I guess a couple decades of dogged reporting by a stream of sharp, diligent reporters will do that.
But I do find it funny that itās still a small enough shop that e.g. they canāt do their podcast because a key person canāt be in two cities at the same time.
Keep on truckinā.
Maybe cuz I am an old fart at 74, and sometimes when really tired speak in disjointed words. And a memory that sucks anymore(i gotta write stuff down) i may be sensitive to āageismā. The great thing about Biden is he cares about people. Heās empathic and itās refreshing to see in a politicianā¦ a group mostly concerned with their individual selves.
Others have blasted it [expanding the pro temās powers] as āunconstitutional"
How is it unconstitutional? The only thing the Constitution says about the speaker is that the House āshall choose their speaker and other officers.ā Nothing about the magical powers of the office or what the House can or cannot do without one. More to point, the Constitution says the House may determine the rules of its proceedings. All the majority has to do to empower McHenry is propose and pass a rule.
It seems that the GOP does not have the votes within its own caucus, so any rule change would require Democratic support. Cue āthe Democrats have to reach across the aisle and work with the GOP so the GOP can refuse any help and then blame the Democrats for not reaching across the aisle.ā This is bad news for Biden.
Heās getting Merrickād
I completely agree. He does care. Really care. They say in politics, āif you can fake sincerity, youāve got it made.ā Biden isnāt faking. He cares. And he canāt always do as heād like to help, but he does care.
Exactly
Obama paused way longer when he spokeā¦
Itās called considering the gravity of the word of the presidency
It is honesty.
I really dislike Gym Jordan
And trumpā¦ who really is not a republican
And the rest of that immature thoughtless aggressive cabal andā¦
Chiefly Matt Gaetz. He really needs to be thrown outta the House. I wish I could post my thoughts on him.
I think there is no doubt that, when the dust settles, Jefferies and Pelosi will have bested the GOP braintrust.
This may cast some light on Jordanās absolute relentless refusal to acknowledge any - any - even minor - awareness of the thing that was well known within the department ā¦ acknowledgment could be the first step on the slippery slope known as the Dennis Hastert exit ramp!
But they wonāt.
Iām taking my mother out to dinner tonight for her 95th birthday. Weāre having martinis and Italian cuisine.
She started ballroom dancing classes at 73 and continued until she was 91. She did classes, shows, and national and international competitions. She quit at 91 mostly due to arthritis. Sheās still sharp as a tack. Her issues are hearing, sight and joint pain.
I laugh when people say Joeās too old. My response is always, HA! You should meet my mother!
There should be NO Democratic votes for McHenry without ironclad guarantees that there will be votes for Ukrainian aid AND a vote on the budget messā¦ at the VERY least a new CR.
Happy Birthday to your mother!
