Democratic Senator Ben Luján Hospitalized For Stroke

We are all worried about the oldster Senators, and the youngest one we have goes and has a stroke.

Best wishes!

Michelle Lujan Grisham, a Democrat, is the governor of New Mexico.

“Lujan Grisham’s husband, Gregory, died of a brain aneurysm in 2004. The couple had two daughters. Lujan Grisham filed a wrongful death suit against her husband’s physician, but the lawsuit was dropped.”

Strange coincidence? Kind of eerie. Same last name. Her husband dies from a brain aneurysm. Are they related? Not to be morbid but my first reaction was to see who would be naming Ben Lujan’s replacement should he die or not be able to serve.

Here is a spot of good news

The PAC’s only contribution in the last three months — a $18,922 transfer from Gaetz’s campaign — “appears to have been necessary to pay off the PAC’s final outstanding obligations,” the Daily Beast reported, adding that the PAC “has no money left.”

These folks can’t even asshole right.

Lujan is pre-1846 acquisition Spanish land aristocracy of NM.

Sort of like Taft to Ohio, Kennedy to Mass, Stevenson to Illinois

Yeah but you haven’t had his Mom’s posole.

Now imagine him dead or incapacitated in a state run by Republicans, e.g. Arizona or Georgia. It is imperative that he regains his health.

I had a cerebellar stroke, too, a few years ago, similar age (51). If they say he’s likely to have a full recovery, I believe it. Been there, done that.

Based on what’s been reported, his was definitely a slow bleeder, was suspected or diagnosed properly in Santa Fe, and no counterproductive interventions took place prior to the accurate diagnosis.

These type of strokes are often the subject of misdiagnosis partly because they’re rare and partly because early symptoms are often associated with more common ailments before hitting the rare diagnosis files. At 49 he’s damned lucky to have been seen by someone who clearly refused to do anything until getting MRI results.

A typical ER would not have stroke on the radar and would’ve dabbled in “top ten” exploratory tests which would’ve made matters a whole lot worse for him. He’s a very lucky man to still be alive.

For different folks.

His insurance plan was immaterial. But the medical skill of the doctors he came into first contact with was top notch. There had to be something in the initial evaluation that had someone say the S word. Because a 49 year old complaining of balance issues and vertigo is likely to get shunted into a terribly wrong path of diagnostic inquiry.

Like I said, he’s lucky to be alive.

Well, you could argue that the right insurance plan allows you to see certain, in this case top notch, doctors that catch the things you mention. Not sure how that applies to an emergency setting. But yes, he saw the right doctor at the right time and is very lucky.

There is so much sadness in a woman trying too hard.

In 1999 or 2000, I happened to stumble across a video of a certain states senator speaking clearly and calmly about a hot button issue affecting folks in his state. He was confident, sincere, and unapologetic about the need to look at the issue objectively and reasonably - putting passions aside to work towards a solution. I said to myself, this should be a man destined for greater things.

I next saw that man speak at the DNC in 2004 and said this man will someday become President of the United States. Barrack Hussein Obama made an indelible impression on me at first contact/exposure. The impression simply grew endlessly. He, and his wife Michelle figure prominently in my list of 10 people I’d like to host for dinner.

John Fetterman triggers in me those very same impulses. There’s just so much authenticity radiated from this man that it really becomes pointless to spend much time deliberating on things, he’s simply the right person for the right time; be it PA senator in 2022, or Dem presidential nominee in a not too distant future.

We can’t.

Agree, and I would add Katie Porter to your list. She’s authentic and so intelligent it’s nearly frightening.

It more shows why we cannot move on Democratic priorities.

I love the public Fetterman, but I fear there is a sex dungeon involved. And I think Fetterman is awesome, even while I fear there is a sex dungeon. I really hope there isn’t a sex dungeon, because despite his sex dungeon vibe, I think he would be otherwise awesome. Assuming there is no sex dungeon. I’m probably wrong about the sex dungeon, but it makes me nervous.

Nahhh - let it go. Lujan is a common name in New Mexico and SW states. Brain aneurysm and cerebellar strokes are completley different animals, as far as brain events go.

He immediately got sent to great care at UNM-ABQ. A really good training Hospital. He is in good hands, and if all goes as expected, he will be fine. Maybe a little dizziness or weakness, and some headaches. But I would bet he’s had much worse headaches in the House Chambers of Congress during their regular confabs with the idiots across the aisle than he has now. I wish the best medical care and outcomes for him. He’s a great guy. :pray:t3:
