More on the story…

‘The plaintiffs also point to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s remarks after Trump’s acquittal, in which they claim he encouraged litigation against the former president, saying he was still vulnerable to legal action for his actions while in office.‘

Just gotta love the idea of Trump being sued under a KKK law. His entire claim of voter fraud depended un unsubstantiated assertions that Philadelphia, Milwaukee and Atlanta cheated. Its not a coincidence these places have large black populations. Stopping blacks from voting is the Klan’s main mission, and its Trump’s too. I hope he can be held responsible.

Another step in Trump and Rudy’s long march to oblivion. Discovery is going to be fun. Is Cruz going to be a codefendant?

Run with this approach and let’s see where it winds up. Now, if we could only add a RICO component to a trial…

How about adding Hawley, Boebert, Cawthorn, and Greene to the list?

Edit/ Oops, I forgot Roger Stone.

This is delicious. It would be nice to know which District Court the lawsuit was filed in.

I’m thinking Rep. Thompson actually has a chance at winning this one. For one, it won’t be a trial before the U.S. Senate.

It’s a start, but there are enough legal issues in trying to stretch it to the instigators that the supreme court will have multiple opportunities to remand and punt it, until both morBotus and ghoulsie are safely dead.

Sure, but these new lawsuits (I saw another one from the NAACP has now been filed) are a bit like the Senate impeachment trial - it’s not about winning, it’s about getting facts out, establishing patterns of behavior and signaling that “We’re not going to let you bratty kids carry on like that any more”.

I had hoped to see the first indictments issued this week as a signal that we’re off to the next phase, but these civil suits still have value in keeping The Owl’s misdeeds in the news. Stir in some good news on the vaccines front, fold in the clear failings to promote infrastructure that has resulted in the piss-poor response to the winter woes and the Republican brand takes another hit.

Now, about those indictments…

Gotta prove to the court you have standing before any facts “get out”. WH defendants will be nopeing that one rather vigorously.

Fair enough, so we chalk this one up to “establishing patterns of behavior”. Low information voters will remember only that The Owl and the Ghoul were sued for the insurrection but that still binds them together. Now throw in that getting this thrown out is going to cost them time and money and that means that they’ll have that much less of both to cause more grief.

All of which, to quote prisoner 55170-054, “Is a Good Thing”…

Fundraising off the conspiracy might open that door, since a number of people coordinated their fundraising efforts, including the RNC.
