Democratic super-lawyer Marc Elias took his voting rights litigation rampage to the next level with a pandemic-related case he filed Thursday evening with the title “Corona v. Cegavske.”

We all need to make certain we aren’t one of the victims. To confirm your voter’s registration, contact your local Board of Elections or visit www.vote411.org for more information.

Marc is one of the good guys. Not only has he served as top lawyer in a couple of Democratic presidential campaigns – alas not including Al Gore’s – he fights hard for justice in re-districting and re-count battles around the country.

Key in this new lawsuit:

The lawsuit called [1] the state’s efforts to expand access to mail-in voting "laudable,” but said it doesn’t eliminate the need for “adequate” in-person voting.

The lawsuit also [2] challenges several aspects of the new mail-in voting policies, including election officials’ plans to send ballots only to registered voters listed as “active” on Nevada’s rolls. Additionally, the lawsuit asks the court to [3] strike down Nevada’s ban [on] ballots being collected and submitted by people other than voters’ family members.

I like our chances better when Marc Elias is involved. He’s had very few losses. His most disappointing loss was trying to overcome the 10,000 vote deficit in the Rick Scott- Bill Nelson recount. He was Al Franken’s lawyer in the 2008 recount.

You will need to do it more than once to make sure that you remain on the voter rolls. They like to purge when you are distracted and right before elections.

I raised the question the other day, but how about some of the Bloomberg / Steyer billions to fund Democrat voter registration drives, not only for “new” voters, but also for those that the GOP already managed to disenfranchise?

No time like the present to start a massive GOTV effort…

www.vote411.org also contains advice on what to do if you arrive at your voting location and are told you aren’t on the rolls.

I would be willing to donate to an associated fund to help people get the required official ID they need to vote in some Republican areas.

O/T now for something more “natural” Give a lion a nice sun warmed dry paved road and what do you think will happen?

Agreed.

The Wisconsin election was a shot across the bow of the GOP.

A well run targeted GOTV effort could be the torpedo we need in November.

Without getting into partisan politics here, allow me to recommend (yet again) an organization that I have supported for quite some time:

Did you see the lions going after the hyenas on the golf course? Beavis and Butthead don’t have a chance, against the lions or the hyenas.

This. It is the voter’s responsibility to ensure he/she is registered before election day. As evil as the Republican’s plans to suppress voting, we still have the power.

Thank you! I just made a donation.

I donated in memory of of my father, who passed last year just before his 92nd birthday. He served in the infantry during World War II and taught his children that voting was not just a right but a responsibility. He also despised trump and what the GOP had become with a passion, and would have voted blue this November. Protecting someone else’s right to vote in his name is something I think he would have appreciated.
