Dem Lawmaker: McCarthy Is Well Aware He Needs George Santos

It is, but the allusion is also a nice bit of knife work. Mr. Ripley knows only that he wants to be on the inside, and that whatever crimes he must commit to get there, well, so be it.

Isn’t occasional agita punishment enough? Besides it’s really society’s fault for making us feel so alienated that we lose our moral compass. Santos in a nutshell.

In the same way, anyone that saw Mitch McConnell’s denunciation of Trump and the J6 Rioters that he made from the floor AFTER the vote to convict on (the 2nd) impeachment would assume that he had voted to convict!

He seems like the drug dealer from The Fugitive, sitting comfortably in the police station chowing down on a burger. He knows he’s untouchable since he’s needed so badly.

Torres argued, the resistance from the vast majority of national-level GOP lawmakers is based simply on math: Losing George Santos would mean an even slimmer margin of control in the House.

“Did you hear that? Torres said that I was—and I quote him—‘slim.’”

It was first a book by the anti-Semite and in general misanthropist Patricia Highsmith, The Talented Mr. Ripley, made first as a French film with the title Purple Noon, then repurposed for Damon, Law, and Paltrow.

Joe, excuse me, Kev McCarthy: “Are you now or have you ever been a Democrat?”

True, but it’s relative to only one thing: The political party to which one belongs.

Thanks! Always appreciate the cinema education. Used to work in the non-theatrical side. Had access to 16mm prints of the entire catalogs of MGM, Paramount, 20th Century, RKO, Warner Bros. This was before home video. Had a projector and would bring movies home every weekend.

McCraven McCarthy is a loser.

Yes, but isn’t Santos being given cover by the MAGAites, Gaetz, Boebart et al? My thinking is they are going to force Santos to join their bloc and do whatever they say in return. He has no friends in the chamber, and this group is there saying “don’t worry, it’ll be okay, just ride it out.”

In that regard, can Qevin really count on Santos’ vote? Or does his presence strengthen the R insurrectionists?

Patricia Highsmith was a master of intrigue.

They will try but as we just saw with McCarthy, the media can also sometimes do two things at once.

Indeed. Just look at recently-arrested Solomon Peña. The state Republicans knew he had 19 felony convictions, largely violent, had recently spent 7 years in prison … and still ran him, unopposed, in the primary and supported him in the general election. Which he lost, overwhelmingly, and then decided to shoot up the homes of various Democrats.

Oh, and just for the record, Mr Peña did not respond to the League of Women Voters questions for their Voter Guide.

Yes. I recall how obsessed the former guy was with his “big nuclear button” and how he was itching to use it. If not on Kim Jung Un, then on the latest hurricane. Evangelicals were probably saying their prayers of gratitude and looking forward to Rapturing up into heaven while we Democrats went to hell.

So its about racism for some and just being bat shit crazy to the point of being homicidal and genocidal as that is what trying to accelerate the rapture is, for others.

And it won’t go away even if Qevin blows Santos.

Hard to claim “out of context” or “misstatement” on that one.
