I was a poll watcher in Racine yesterday, and it seemed like hardly any MAGA party voters showed up.

it’s a shame they did in November 2024, since Orange Caligula™️ won the state.

China seems to be the winner so far, to some extent by accident. Without the incompetence of Trump and those around him, there would not have been a war with Iran. While the repurging of the US State Department was a given in Trump 2.0, the purging of the military was not a given. The petroyuan, and the use of the yuan in international transactions, had been poking along for over a decade. The yuan, which was still only the world’s fifth-most used currency last year, has gotten a huge boost from this own-goal crisis. Moreover, the yuan has not mattered that much earlier as China, for trade purposes, basically pegged to the dollar, and China still has currency controls and a far-less developed financial system. That doesn’t prevent dedollarization, however. As currency value is tied to a nation’s credibility, I feel sorry for the next Fed chairman if America’s flirtation with odd oligarch beliefs about how the world should work continues. Dollar dominance, the “exorbitant privilege”, keeps borrowing costs down for America and makes us rich.

Fantastic result.

Wonder if TSF’s Hitler impressions Sunday thru Tuesday morning affected the margin.

Congrats to the State - no need to ask the question ‘what’s the matter with Wisconsin’ anymore.

Let’s see how the replacement races for Vos and LeMahieu play out before we get complacent. Still a lot of toxin to be purged from the state legislature.

There’s still a lot of work to do in Wisconsin. No doubt. But if any sea change/shift were going to happen, this would be the year.

Watch this space - next year they have a chance to make it 6-1, as Annette Ziegler has announced she will not run for reelection. She’s been on the Wisconsin Supreme Court since 2007 and was chief justice from 2021-2025.

People understood the assignment…

On Wisconsin! On Wisconsin! Fight on down the field! Pass the ball by our opponents. Always make them yield. Rah rah rah. A little repetition with modulation (beyond that, memory fails me), leading to, And we will win this game.

My mother led us in singing fight songs (among many other songs) on car trips. I have no idea how this NYC, NYU girl with zero interest in sports ever learned them. She couldn’t really carry a tune but was close enough to the notes that the rest of us (less my brother, who inherited her tin ear) could work out the melody. I miss her.

One hopes J.D. Douchebag™️ is kryptonite in Hungary and drives opposition voters to the polls.

I would hope voters would resent a foreign official interfering in their national election.
