Legal War Plans There’s a new Politico piece out today on the prep work that Democratic attorneys general around the nation are doing to create a legal battle plan for the seemingly inevitable reality that will arrive this fall, when President Trump attempts to make good on his threats to interfere with states’ election administration.…
Silver lining:
The Dotard’s ham-handed efforts to fuck with the vote is going to make voters pay attention, and show up at the polls. And they won’t be thinking kindly of that malignant doofus.
Voter suppression is by definition voter fraud and it makes no difference who is being deprived the right to vote. That is, even if true (and I have a bridge to sell you if you actually believe this bill will be enforced in such a way that does not target people of color from voting) that Republican voters will be more impacted, it is still voter fraud through voter suppression.
While causing doubt in elections is no doubt a feature of this bill, its intent is to stop over 1,000,000 legally eligible voters from voting and is based on bold faced lies that there is any serious in person voter fraud other than voter suppression which this bill puts on steroids.
Last month, state election officials in Utah, which Trump won, found 99.9% of registered voters in their state were U.S. citizens.
Not good enough. It needs to be 500% to make Trump happy.
I’m gay and took my husband’s last name. Am I gonna be screwed out of voting because of the SAVE act too?
And does’t that stupid bill also outlaw mail in ballots? How is the convicted fellon going to vote? He always does mail in.
Is that really a photo of his hand? It looks disgusting
Not if you already registered to vote in your state, and if the act doesn’t pass (I don’t think it will pass the Senate). If it does, you might need to get some paperwork together but they can’t stop you from voting. Also, welcome to the zoo here!
Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think the SAVE act outlaws mail-in ballots. That’s the Make Elections Great Again act pending in the House that hasn’t passed yet. It’s ridiculous. How could they force states like WA and OR to completely change their almost 100% vote-by-mail elections?
when the President of the United States attempts to make good on his threats to interfere with states’ election administration.
What a shame on the Republican Party.
They’ve lied to everyone for decades, exactly like Epstein.
They’re preparing for the administration to potentially confiscate ballots and voting machines, strip resources from the postal service to disrupt the delivery of mail ballots, and send military members and immigration agents to polling locations to intimidate voters.
Win or lose, Republicans can then bitch about a chaotic election.
Any simpleton can create chaos.
The bill…
…is unconstitutional.
The Rethugs have a decades head start.
Yes, it would appear to be the case.
Welcome to The Hive ! You can check out any time you want but you can never leave !
require the DHS to get consent from state and local officials before building new immigrant detention centers
Don’t localities control zoning?
If it were me, I’d go directly to the Registrar of the city and get some insight. Those folks know the database. All they want to do is keep it filled correctly. They want as little hassle as you do.
At worst, they may direct you to another office that handles citywide name changes first. My best guess : - )
Re: blocking voting
Of course, the US military abroad and Americans living in other countries have a (reasonably) secure way of casting their ballots via the 'net. Don’t tell Heggie! Maybe the First Felon (twice impeached), old iDJiT, won’t notice.
Re: Stop Americans from Voting Ever (SAVE) act
Perhaps these stringent requirements won’t be imposed on Registered Republicans, who can easily be grandfathered in?
Democrats need to be aware of the low-info voters, who will hear on the daily “news” that say, “the House voted to approve the SAVE Act” and assume it’s now the Law of the Land. Unless the thing is passed by both House AND Senate, and then the iDJiT in … MAL? almost never the half-wrecked White House … it’s not law. And most of his “executive orders” are just masturbation.
Thank you. I also hope it doesn’t pass.
Thinking creatively! Exploring non-traditional options! That’s what we need now. Thanks, Fiftygigs!
