Most, in fact nearly all, people who call this or that Marxist, socialist or communist doesn’t have any idea what these actually mean, or that Marxism actually has two versions, one strictly about economics and long since overshadowed by more contemporary left-wing economic theories, the other more of a general philosophical way of analyzing certain things, e.g. Marxist literary theory and such. That one still has strong pull in academia, from what I understand, and subscribing to it doesn’t mean that you want to abolish private property and free enterprise. But, being stupid, this is all way over their heads.
