Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) sounded the alarm over concerns that she is being both targeted and dehumanized by the GOP’s gun-slinging lawmakers after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) used an image targeting the Minnesota progressive in a self-victimization-laced tweet.
I know that this is asking MTG, or any Republican for that matter, to calmly and using their indoor adult voice explain in more detail what they have against the women of “the Squad” and their proposals. Give me your counter argument like an adult and not the fear mongering money raising hysteric.
MTG hates my representative Omar Ilhan because of her race, her gender, her country of origin, her religion, her head scarf, her accent, and her stance on the Palestinians, Israel, and settlements, among other reasons. Not to mention just being an uppity type of foreigner, foreigner as seen through the warped lens of MTG.
I do rather love that a bunch of a-holes who’ve long put party over country are now suffering at the hands of a(nother) maniac who puts her ego above their party.
You can’t “fix” someone if they don’t want to be fixed. And they only way with today’s technology is to de-platform them. It was all so much simpler then, when all one had to do was turn the page from the letters to editor page to the sports page.
We seen what happened at the Capital. It is a matter of time before it gets personal and individuals are attacked.
I fear there will be no accountability to politicians who stoke this kind of rhetoric. This bull shit is not free speech, it is stoking violence. Time to end this now.
It’s time to Steve King MTG, and also time for those constituents to demand of their reps and senators and explanation of why they support her rhetoric that comes without a counter argument.
I find myself hoping she keeps it up. She thinks she’s gonna be like Obi-Wan Kenobi and get more powerful when she’s struck down. I believe she’s about to find out she’s just gonna get tossed aside as a useless rather than useful idiot.
Apparently, congress members enjoy a great deal of latitude:
It is very difficult to define the outer boundaries of the “job” of a Member of Congress. Almost anything the Member does may have an impact on his relationship with his constituents. Even matters which are indisputably personal, if they become a matter of media inquiry, can impact the Member’s image and thus affect his ability to effectively represent his constituents.
I’m just waiting for MTG and McCarthy to start loudly hinting that if expelling House members is what we’re doing now, maybe AOC and Omar will be up for expulsion, too.
