Day 25: Russian Forces Bomb Art School In Mariupol As Zelensky Warns Of ‘A Third World War’

As Russia continues its effort to capture cities in eastern and southern Ukraine, Russian troops are escalating their advance on civilians, shelling metropolitan areas of the country. On Sunday, Russia claimed it used long-range missiles to hit three military facilities in different parts of Ukraine.

From my friend in Ukraine this morning:

March 20, 2022
Do you remember photos of Berlin after WW2? The ruins of the city.
Mariupol, the “Leningrad” of the Ukrainian War. The city is encircled, cut off from food and humanitarian supplies, citizens can’t get out, now going on the 4th week. Starvation.

The Russians will gain nothing but rubble.
And the hatred of Ukrainians toward Russians will last for generations.
I hope those who bomb buildings and kill civilians are given like for like. It’s not revenge but a reckoning.

If charged with resolving this war I would insist that the Ukrainian border be returned to its original “Risk” board lines.
But I’m not responsible for this. Only the people of Ukraine are allowed to commiserate on this and I’m guessing their sentiments are not in any way generous in this regard.

This from the article
“Over the past week, several thousand Mariupol residents have been taken to Russian territory,” the city said in a statement. “The occupiers illegally took people from the Livoberezhny district and from the shelter in the sports club building, where more than a thousand people (mostly women and children) were hiding from the constant bombing.”

Imagine the foreign invader then captures you and takes you to their country where you have zero interest in being. How the hell will they get out?

I’m pretty sure Putin doesn’t care.

Cowards. Real warriors would fight the Ukrainian military. Not these. These are cowards with weapons. The whole world sees it.

For me the rubble of Ukrainian cities and towns is bald faced undeniable evidence of crimes against humanity.
The start of this war is a crime that should be on Putin alone. But there are many in his military who must face fair justice along with him.

Any day in a war is eternity for the civilians.

Twenty five days have passed. When will the sanctions cripple Putin? Three months? Six months?

Without China’s help, utter devastation will be the result.

And if China joins with Putin, then I’m afraid our future is unthinkable.

American politicians, live in the moment…eventually. CHINA and RUSSIA will fight over the same bone…USA.

Interesting thread about Russia being a relatively old, depopulating country having to rely on minorities they don’t consider fully human to fight their nationalistic war.

ETA: This is how he ends his long thread. Really a fascinating look at Russia.

“Good” lead in for Carlson, Greene and Hannity.

And the GOP Right Wing

The basis of their appeal we already know and knew.

Let’s see how strong it is.

China has been distancing its support for Russia in recent days. It needs Western markets to sell its goods more than it needs Russia, which is mainly just a distraction to occupy the West. I’m not too worried about them ganging up together. They don’t have the same strategic interests.

China is also getting a lesson in what could happen if it tries to invade Taiwan. Which it probably will eventually, but not now because they are too dependent on globalism. China always plays the long game and they can afford to wait.

More sanctions.

As we have learned over the last 80 years, strategic bombing of civilians usually heightens the willingness of a population to fight to the death. Russia’s successes can be deemed outliers because the targeted countries were also starved for defensive weaponry. In the case of Ukraine the world is arming the defenders with weapons that have been very effective.

The West will continue supplying Stingers, Javelins, NLAWs and Intel to the Ukrainians, while tightening the economic noose around Russia. That isn’t nothing, and it may allow Ukraine to survive this.

The next step beyond that is a shooting war with Russia. Which Biden and the leaders of Europe are trying to avoid for now, because that’s a Pandora’s Box and nobody knows what happens if we open it.
