Data Shows Virus Now Picking Up Steam After In-Person Thanksgiving Gatherings | Talking Points Memo

With some Americans now paying the price for what they did over Thanksgiving and falling sick with COVID-19, health officials are warning people — begging them, even — not to make the same mistake during the Christmas and New Year’s season.

Don’t blame me, I stayed home.

I hope people do the same at Christmas but not holding my breath.

It’s like some of us don’t have self control, or can put off gratification for sake of loved one’s. All that’s going to be left to carry on is the introverts, and we don’t like working with others.

Sorry, Ms. Cooper, but your decision to attend the dinner is just as bad as the girlfriend’s father’s decision. You have to take your life in your own hands right now.

tanyev I think I understand your sentiment, but I don’t think we have enough information to make that judgement. Was she led to believe her son’s girlfriend’s family was previously careful, and follow all guidelines? Did she know the father had traveled out of town?

This is not at all surprising, and it’s only the start of the thanksgiving surge…it will take a few weeks for all of the people who were infected by the ones infected at Thanksgiving to show up as well. That’s just in time for the start of the Christmas and New Year’s infections to come out to play.

And, it’s really frustrating to hear all these people saying “I should have been more careful”…the authorities and those of us who are paying attention were screaming about it before Thanksgiving. I have noted an uptick in the number of people on Facebook who have it, and in the number of posts I’m making giving them advice to treat it, since Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, I’m also posting more to stop the spread of misinformation, and the people making those posts are even more aggressive in their attitude of defiance.

Things are only getting worse, with no sign that the people who refuse to do anything to stop the spread are being affected by the carnage, even when it’s someone they know. There’s just no reason to think that destructive behavior will change anytime soon…which means the entire nation will just continue to be flooded with COVID infections. And, that means far more death…on Sunday my area in LA county, the San Gabriel Valley, with a population around 1.4 million people, had three available ICU beds. Yes, three, in the entire area…I doubt there are any left today. Anyone who needs an ICU bed is going to die across the nation soon, or they are going to quit treating the really weak COVID patients and let them die. It’s going to be a horror and madness, and was completely preventable.

Fauci on Melber… really serious, but Melber shows a mashup and Fauci blushes, chuckles and gets back to serious…

When the War To Save Christmas comes – and it will come – you, Chanukah Harry, and Kwanzaa Kringle will be the first up against the wall!

I’m not saying that in a ‘she deserves it’ kind of way. I’m simply saying that the safest Thanksgiving celebration for a 60 year old cancer survivor was with just the people she lives with. She chose something that had significantly more risk.

I am so afraid. There is an epidemiological prairie fire racing across America, and people are acting like it’s okay to take chances. Not with me, you won’t. I don’t care who you are, nor do I care how much you say you love me and are taking all precautions. I’m staying over here. You stay over there. Please.

(But we can when necessary for the greater good.)

What? He’s thinking the vaccine is about saving lives from a Democrat hoax no worse than the common cold that would disappear on 11/4 and that can be cured with hydroxychloroquine?

While the day-to-day experience of the COVID-19 pandemic is very different from the AIDS pandemic, it sure does rhyme: a long incubation period combined with social stigmas and social dogmas inhibiting people from protecting themselves and others.

I feel like I’ve relived 10 years of the AIDS pandemic in only 10 months.

It’s exhausting and depressing to see my countrymen making the same errors in judgement all over again.

As long as they respect the boundaries.

White House told FDA chief to authorize vaccine or resign

As I’ve posted before, I’m no anti-vaxxer at all, but this vaccine is different.

Edit to add: and they did it. But why? To save a job or because it was the right, safe, and effective, thing to do?!? I’d like to think it was the latter, but with this administration, there is never any telling.

In this case I think you can trust it. What is a threat from lame-duck Trump to fire you but a threat to give you a badge of honor and a month and a half off, with likely rehire by the incoming administration? But sure, the threat confuses things a lot.

How can be so cruel to @castor_troy?

On one hand you have your health to protect. On the other hand you have lime green Jell-O with grated cheese. Choose wisely.
