Probably some neoliberal who has the approval of every establishment Democratic potlician who has gotten the party into this mess by playing duck and cover at every opportunity. Standing for nothing but protecting their billionaire friends and keeping their jobs.
He is, however, closely associated with lots of DSA pols and operatives. I would not hesitate to say that his candidacy was ginned up by a bunch of DSA people, or at least DSA-aligned.
I have beef with DSA on both strategic and substantive grounds (they have a lot of overtly unreformed Marxist-Communist tankies, seriously). I also have a lot of overlap with DSAâs declared policy positions. I wish the non-Hammer & Sickle DSA folks would just realize that their goals are better promoted inside the Democratic Party than in opposition to it.

Nonsense. The voters knew about Platnerâs background when they overwhelmingly chose him in the primary. They will know all about him if they get a chance to vote for him in November. You donât want them to have that chance. Iâm reminded of when Kirsten Gillibrand ran Al Franken out of the Senate. That worked out so well. Iâm sure youâre happy about that, too.

I donât know how you assess âvery credibly accusedâ from a couple of newspaper articles quoting a woman who you admit sandbagged Planter until the last week before close of the time to change nominees. Maybe she is just a loyal Democrat who thought she would give him a chance to withdraw gracefully.
I remember how Al Franken was run out of the Senate by Kirsten Gillibrand and a few others on what seemed to be âvery credible evidenceâ until we all discovered it wasnât after he resigned.

After she had âsuspended her campaignâ and withdrawn from the election. She was (still is) a very popular governor. Yeah, sheâs old and only entered the Senate primary race under pressure from the likes of Schumer.
Anyway, 18% of the vote when sheâd withdrawn ainât nothinâ to sneeze at.

This is very on brand for Platner. He was in a relationship with the accuser. She seems forthright but acknowledges that Platner was very intoxicated and did not seem aware that she had not consented the next morning (they apparently spent the night in bed together). He denies non consensual sex. Reminds me a little bit of Trump raping his first wife Ivana. Seems like Senate material to me.

I liked his positions much better but believed he would be slaughtered in the general due to his early connections (IIRC spent his honeymoon in Moscow, was a member of a Trotskyist party at one pointâŚ). But now I really wonderâŚan acquaintance who voted for Trump the first time told me afterwards that he definitely would have voted for Sanders if he was on the ballotâŚ

What receipts? I saw Tapperâs interview with her and she admitted she deleted all her text messages and other account with Platner from 5 years ago when this assault supposedly occured.
In the interview, she admitted she previously dated Platner and says it was a drunken assault at her house at night. After the supposed assault, she let Platner sleep it off at her house until the next morning and didnât bother to contact any police. etc. while he was sleeping it off.
Tapper did not bother to ask her during the interview if she was paid by anyone!
