Shorter Cuomo: “Gee, ladies, I was just foolin’. Can’t you take a joke?”

He needs to resign.

Speaking as a female but not knowing what he said, is it possible people are taking sexual harassment to the extremes?
Yeah, he’s in a position of power, but is he propositioning them?
We just had someone in office that raped women, nothing done about that.

I really don’t know.
In the rush to judgment, Al Franken lost his senate seat. I’m unsure that was warranted.
I think a genuinely independent investigation is called for and that conclusions on the appropriate course of action should await its findings.

I tend to agree that, while he’s clearly been a buffoon, it might be all right to wait and let the voters decide at the next election whether Cuomo should remain in office. On the other hand, Fox is having a field day with Cuomo, and it’s not really good for the Democratic party to have someone at his level who’s clearly and demonstrably a buffoon.

He s just an assshole. But everyone knows that. No one calls out assholes until it’s too late. I. Sure it never occurred to him to tone it down…why? See first sentence…

Wasn’t that many months ago that Cuomo was seen as a star for how he was handling Covid in NYC. My how things can go south in a hurry.

Sounds like an admission

I believe he is inching towards that, yes.

His PR people are probably telling him to just own it, show contrition, and then move on. Problem is, it seems its too late to use the “get ahead of the story” strategy.

Not a constituent. But I think an investigation is in order, see where it goes.

Of course fox nooze will make hay, conveniently ignoring the fact that their orange hero was credibly accused not of sexual harassment, but of sexual assault, by numerous women.

And the story is that he was trying to boff young women in the office. If one of them had said they love older men and come over and sat in his lap, does anyone think he’d tell them that such a tryst would be inappropriate? Not by a longshot.

Having been a female in the Construction Industry, I tend to chuckle at the women who take any and every remark a man makes as a sexual harassment. Grow up girls! If you do not like a remark…SAY SO! Right then and there! Do not be all cute, and then get offended when men take that as a “social” encounter rather than a business encounter. If you are all business, there is never any reason for conversation to go anywhere near playing strip poker.
If the behavior persists, go over their head and lodge a complaint, and failing that there is always a knee to the groin.

“Jeez, if I knew I was going to get into this much trouble, I would have taken Bill O’Reilly’s advice and used the loofah and falafel.” - Gov. Andrew “Feminist Champion” Cuomo

Yep, I was a contractor/carpenter for a bunch of years. Lots of the subs were men. I never had trouble with them acting anything but professional and when I was doing this was when there weren’t many women in the trades.
I think people are just over sensitive to what harassment is.

If this guy is as sleazy as he is being accused of being, he’s gotta go. But if he’s kicked out of the governor’s chair because of it, then Madison Cawthorn deserves a far worse punishment, as does Patrick Henry College for allowing Cawthorn to get away with it.

I applaud the independent investigation. I’d also like to see the screws get turned on Madison Cawthorn, Jim Jordan, and others in the Republican party. There is no excuse for this behavior.

I worked with many women and was hugged a lot.
No affairs.
They choose who could hug them and have what could be considered off color talks and it worked.
We took care of each other at work which relieved tension and helped pass the time.

As the Me, Too movement has underscored, many women face intolerable sexually charged pressures on them in the workplace. There should be no tolerance for that.
OTOH, I am torn in this case. Cuomo has done real good with regard to COVID. He’s made some mistakes, but they seem overshadowed by the positive.
He’s a powerful individual with a brash, in-your-face, stomp-on-your-feelings New York attitude, but he gets things done. He was brought up in a culture of casual flirtation. Maybe it goes beyond that. I give him credit for calling for a truly independent investigation, but his “apology” was essentially the same mealy-mouthed "I’m sorry if you were offended’ type that we have seen from Republicans too much.
He’s a flawed human being. Can we accept a flawed politician?
As I say, I’m torn–particularly after the blatant hypocrisy on the political Right about the very same issues for the last four plus years
I’m inclined to cut the guy some slack, but I’m not a woman in the workplace.
And I’m from Texas. I’d kill to have a governor like Cuomo.
