Cruz’s Ex-Comms Director Slams GOPer’s ‘Dumbass Move’ Amid Mexico Trip Controversy

Rick Tyler, Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) ex-communications director, on Friday morning panned his former boss’s decision to flee to the beaches of Mexico as Texas suffers a major natural disaster in the form of a snowstorm that’s caused power outages across the state.

Of all the contemptible things Cruz has done, this is the thing that rises to “dumbass” designation?

He’s done plenty of despicable things, but, unfortunately, some of his stupid supporters like them, so republicans stay quiet.

This was just really bad optics and completely self-centered behavior, completely blind to his constituents’ suffering here. A few are making pathetic attempts to support him, but few are swayed.

What are the odds that Ted follows quarantine protocol following his trip to Mexico? Is there any chance he’ll stay the f’ away from everyone for two weeks?

Q: Why do people take an instant dislike to Ted Cruz?
A: To save time!!

Q: What type of person makes a dumbass move?
A: A dumbass.

I get the feeling that none of this really matters. Cruz isn’t up for reelection for nearly four years and Republicans never give a shit what their candidates do anyway. As long as Cruz keeps “stickin it to the libs” he’ll be okay with them no matter what else he does.

Yes, “dumbass” because there’s no way of weaseling out of it. Just no plausible excuse or reason to go to Cancun, and it’s not a move that pleases the RWNJ base by trolling the libs.

Ted damn near got his ass beat in 2018. He is the least popular GOP elected official in Texas. And state law does not allow him to appear on the ballot simultaneously in two primary elections. Given that he thinks he’s going to be President – it’s plainly and obviously the only thing he cares about – I doubt he files for re-election to the Senate unless Donnie Two Impeachments finds it difficult to run a 2024 campaign from prison or the grave.

How does Ted get to run for U.S. prez, when he was born in Canada?

Because he is still a natural-born citizen.

He has US citizenship from birth (natural born citizen) due to having at least one US parent. Though amusingly, that parent was an undocumented immigrant to the US.

Funny because he seems artificial.

That’s because he is forever and always talking down to an audience he sees as a bunch of rubes who are beneath his staggering intellect.

What?

"The consensus of early 21st-century constitutional and legal scholars, together with relevant case law, is that natural-born citizens include, subject to exceptions, those born in the United States. As to those born elsewhere who meet the legal requirements for birthright citizenship, the matter is unsettled.

The natural-born-citizen clause has been mentioned in passing in several decisions of the United States Supreme Court, and by some lower courts that have addressed eligibility challenges, but the Supreme Court has never directly addressed the question of a specific presidential or vice-presidential candidate’s eligibility as a natural-born citizen."

Ted’s mom was born in Delaware. His fundie nutcase father came to the US on a student visa and was eventually granted asylum.
