Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) finally responded to the uproar created by his decision to decamp to Mexico while the state that elected him to the Senate weathers a historic disaster.
Edward Russell, an airlines reporter at the travel news website Skift, reported that an unnamed source at United Airlines told him Cruz was originally scheduled to return to Texas on Saturday. Around 6 a.m. on Thursday, Cruz changed plans, rebooking his flight to return Thursday afternoon, Russell reported.
Can’t stand up to Trump. Can’t stand up to the RWNJ’s in his own party. Can’t stand up for principle. Can’t stand up to his wife’s honor. Can’t stand up to his father’s honor (whatever shred there might be…). Can’t stand up to his kids. That’s Ted Cruz in a nutshell.
Ted should have stayed in Mexico. At least it would have shown the courage of his family-vacation-during-a-statewide-disaster convictions. Hard to be both an asshole and a pussy simultaneously, but that’s Ted.
My family had to cancel a pre-planned trip to Europe last year. We have family and friends in Mexico, but we will not be able to visit because we take COVID seriously and know we shouldn’t be on an airplane with others unless it’s a dire emergency. Kids have been remote schooling for almost a year and our “vacations” are at home or nature walks in the vicinity of home.
Ted’s kids get an unexpected week off from school due to disaster conditions in their state and the first thing Ted does is book a flight to a foreign beach, away from the frigid temperatures and the lamentations of his shivering neighbors.
