Crenshaw Is Now In Ukraine And Won’t Speak At NRA Meeting Just Days After Shooting

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) on Wednesday confirmed to TPM that he has canceled his scheduled appearance at the National Rifle Association’s convention in Houston on Friday. Crenshaw was previously confirmed as a speaker at the event, which is scheduled to take place days after the tragic shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.

So, Crenshaw finally found time to spy for Putin in the Ukraine? How nice!

Safer to be in Ukraine than Texas, perhaps?

Brave Sir Crenshaw ran away…

I understand the need to be carefully objective.
But this was not “An alleged gunman”

He has his eye on the situation. Meanwhile, in Manchinland.

But, in actuality, whereas Manchin and Crenshaw are unspeakable and mock worthy, I don’t really blame them entirely. As Josh posted this morning in his “Candor” essay.

We are also not captive to a constitution that may be out of date or rooted in outmoded rules. The entire individual right to bear arms is totally made up, a modern confection. The only power of those arguments — wholly empty by any historical analysis — is that a functional majority of the country chooses to pretend they’re true.

This is the America a big, big part of the country wants. It’s not about money in politics or some powerful advocacy group or a breakdown in the machinery of government. It’s not about politicians lacking courage. This is the America something like half the country wants.

And they deserve to get it good and hard.

A little something from cnn.com’s “strange headline” category…

Ha ha! So he’s on the lam in Ukraine. What a profile in courage.

If the NRA had any decency *, they would change their agenda to actively seek ways by means gun abuses like Uvalde can be stopped or at least limited. I’m so old that I can remember when the NRA promoted gun safety, responsible ownership, even marksmanship. **

  • I know, I know; stop laughing.
** Now, “shooters” just “spray’n’pray”. That’s why they need fully automatic weapons, or at the very least, outsized magazines.

Yeah, but he’s a Democrat.

I don’t think Crenshaw is as a bad a guy as the usual MAGAt slime out there. It must be tortuous to be just a wee bit more ethical than filth.

My first question on reading the headline was “which side in the war is he visiting?”

I’m astonished Zelenskyy is still alive, to be honest - after the early kidnap attempts, it looks like Putin isn’t trying too hard to kill him (drone strike/SRBM would be relatively easy).

He’s dead. There’s plenty of witnesses. Why refer to the asshat as an “alleged” gunman?

My question is when is Trump heading over to Ukraine, with his vast military experiences, to lead Putin’s army to victory?
