Craven Self-Preservation Puts Senate GOP at Odds With Trump

Originally published at: Craven Self-Preservation Puts Senate GOP at Odds With Trump

‘Our Majority Is Melting Down Before Our Eyes’ Senate Republicans have always felt like the weakest of the political bulwarks protecting Trump and Trumpism, but real signs of senators crumbling en masse have remained few and fleeting. Yesterday’s developments were more real and may not be so fleeting. Resistance within John Thune’s conference to Trump’s…

Yesterday I posted Timothy Snyder’s May 21 video in which he posited that Russia and the US ceded their Super Power status to China as a result of their leaders being “Superlosers” who started unnecessary and unjustifiable wars against weak nations which, incredibly, Russia and the US were now losing. His analysis was fresh and insightful as to how we got here we are. Russia and the US are now subordinate to China, who emerges as the default remaining Superpower despite its own geopolitical power eroding because its erosion lacked the accelerant of being led by a Superloser like TSF or Putin. I’m posting it again as we head into the Memorial Day weekend if you want to read it along with today’s Heather and Paul.

Yeah, but WTAF are they doing about it?

Sen. John Curtis (R-UT) was an exception, saying he didn’t think any guardrails could fix the fund: “I don’t like the fund at all.”

I don’t recall ever hearing of this guy before now. I wonder why that is.

Some in the House are feeling the same way. Unfortunately, Mikey realized it in time and pulled the vote and sent everyone home.

Gonna post this again coz it’s another example of how, national security notwithstanding, our military has not been forthcoming about actual damage and war costs. I mean, hey! We’re paying for this shit!

Can Florida continue what they’ve started? It’s not a roadmap, but perhaps the start of a blueprint for change.

Profiles in Cowardice gets another whole volume. I do love to see them “in disarray,” but they have always managed to buckle under the pressure from Orange Foolius. Maybe they are paying attention to the polls…we’ll see. Oh, as for Mr. Tarrio? His life is “fucked up” because he is a moronic fool who made bad choices. Hope he never sees a penny of this money. Also, too, since when does the Attorney General run the IRS? I was under the mistaken impression that it was a part of the Department of the Treasury. Guess it all belongs to him now….86 47

Could Chump being doing more than he already is to make himself and his party more loathsome to the electorate? If this stuff isn’t registering with the voters, than what type of behavior/fraud/crimes would?

As @ralph_vonholst noted on the other MM…it doesn’t appear the electorate is shifting for any other reason than the economy. It isn’t because (or at least not primarily) because he’s a rampant criminal that is destroying every fiber of our being. There are a 1000 unforgiveable actions that no prez or politicians can come back from…which were simply discarded and now forgotten. Not a single one took, or stuck, or derailed Chump and the Rs for even a minute.

We can NEVER assume that people are fed up with them for any sane reasons. We can never assume they won’t go rushing straight back to the Rs. There is no tipping point, there is no ‘waking up’ or come-to-jeebus moment. Almost entirely about the voter’s pocketbook and if we aren’t delivering dollars into their hands within a few months of taking back the govt…they will turn on us in a flash.

I see this in my email this morning. Outgoing Supervisor of Elections Tommy Doyle, while a republican, was a staunch supporter of mail in voting and ran a very efficient Board of Elections for Lee County. I’ll report back as I see how this impacts my voting process.
