In Trump country, they probably have suicide encouragement hotlines by now.

How many are Trump KKKultists trying to make what Trump said sound true?

Its like a slow motion version of that scene from the Deer Hunter. Russian Roulette, courtesy of your privileged leadership.

When the nation is being governed by a death cult covered in bullshit the malaise tends to spread. Case in point, increasing numbers of TrumPublicans are declaring It is good to die for your country’s stock prices; Hume, Beck, Patrick, etc.

Ah, they’re probably just anxious to get back to work. #KeepAmericaGreat

COVID-19 Spikes Calls To Suicide Hotlines Nationwide

Here’s why:

Maybe it’s a “car wreck” rubber necking phenomenon.

I count myself incredibly lucky during this crisis. We live in a quiet place with nice scenery. My job is not impacted, other than now I don’t have to commute. We are healthy (although my wife is currently under the weather, it doesn’t seem like we’ll need to go to the hospital).

I can’t imagine what this would be like if:

  • I was living with an abusive person
  • I was in fear of losing or had lost my income
  • I was in a cramped/crowded environment

These and many other factors could easily push someone who is barely hanging on over the edge. There just isn’t a lot of margin for error in our society.

And that’s just here. What about a place like India?

Political asymmetrical response.

The Republican voters, not Trump, will have killed us.

I kind of favor forcing them to all wear MAGA hats whenever they are in public, so we know them when we see them coming, for the duration of this pandemic.

It’s what’s driving his somewhat higher polling numbers. Republicans are more enthusiastic about Trump than they were before the crisis began and now, the merely Trump curious among them believe that they are being forced to pick a side. Trump is consolidating Republican voter support. That’s my bet, and these poor benighted folks are not coming back to us. We have to outvote them. This is going to be a closer election than we think and the Bernie or Busters are going to be a real thorn in our side.

There was a piece in the Atlantic today or yesterday about how our side is really a bit stronger than we think. It’s more than sheer poll numbers. There’s a huge mass of people out there who’re disgusted and want nothing more than for this nightmare to be over.

Oh, yeah. I think we’re going outvote them, but we can’t afford to be complacent. We need to work as hard as if we’re 5 percentage points behind.

I didn’t see any recommendation to that effect. :grinning:

No I think it’s the Rally Round the Flag Syndrome and those numbers are going to fall.

Sure. If you’re dead of another cause, you can’t raise Donnie’s numbers.

It could very well be that. I’m just gobsmacked that this crisis hasn’t created a loss of faith among many in the MAGA crowd. If this doesn’t, nothing will.

Add to the suicide mix - a “Coronavirus Party in KY” + White Supremacists using Covid-19 as bioweapons targeting police and Jews + your run of the mill knuckleheads who wants to spread the virus because they can…then the body count will be higher…way higher than what Covidiot-In-Chief likes…”But my numbers…I like my numbers”
