So insurance companies get to combine bigotry and the profit motive? (That a retirement system should offer gender-affirming care doesn’t surprise me, because once folks get to that point, you’re stuck with them. You can’t make a profit by making their lives so miserable they go somewhere else, or making them so sick they’re no longer at work and thus no longer covered by the employer’s insurance system.)

(Do I perhaps think that one of the big problems with healthcare in the US is that payers can make more money by shedding expensive patients onto some other payer, and that they can’t reliably make more money by interventions that would reduce costs 20-30 years down the road?)

Why is is totally non threatening, television-advertised “Low-T” to give a man Depo-Testosterone® to enhance his secondary male characteristics when his testicles don’t put out enough sex hormone, but giving it to a woman who wants secondary male characteristics is “gender affirming care” that rightists want to make illegal?

I need help understanding how this is anything but straight-up discrimination on the basis of sex.

damn, i hate that word…it means nothing…anyway. that being said…i have a question,is trans- care for a physical illness/ condition, or a mental issue…or both.if it not included on the policy, does the insurance have to pay for it…what is their argument for refusing payment?you get what you pay for.?

I think their opposition to trans-care is a combination of own the libs, their sincerely held religious belief that LGBTQ in all its manifestations is an affront to gawd, and the pervasive ignorance, fear and hatred that defines and unites the MAGA/GOP.
