Now I’m also concerned that the net, cumulatively effort of vote suppression in the handful of key states shaving just enough votes in each of these states to give the shitgibbon a majority in those states. Probabilities like those of Nate Silver all assume a relatively honest election and vote counting. If someone in, say, TX or PA threw a truckload of ballots into the trash, that wouldn’t be factored into these estimates of probability. The effect is that they never existed.

Given that it takes five votes at SCOTUS to block an interim lower court ruling, and there are at best four votes for that result here, it ain’t going to get decided by the Supremes. And the Eighth Circuit is the reddest circuit in the country – only one Dem appointee. Not just on the active court. None of the senior judges either. It’s a shitshow of a court.

Republicans can’t stand democracy. Lots of them are saying as much loudly now. They don’t like the idea of a republic either. A Russian-style oligarchy suits their purpose. Can’t stand competition and too afraid to count the votes. So they stall, sue and generally admit that they can’t win over the electorate any longer.

Just so we have this straight: Trump appoints a criminal Postmaster General to disrupt the efficiencies of the Post Office beginning three months ahead of the election. In this way compromising the ability of the USPS to handle the massive number of mail-in ballots being voted. And now, Trump appointed judges are refusing to acknowledge the manner in which the postal service has been compromised by Trumps own operatives, in theory to support his re-election.
And we call this democracy?

I see this as the ‘long game’ the GOP has been playing for 40+ years finally coming to fruition. They have successfully made the Supreme Court a partisan institution. The only GOP justice that does not come out and proclaim he is in the thrall of the GOP is Roberts. And make no mistake, he uses the occasional fig leaf on issues that are not that important to his 1% masters, but when they demand it he will prove his fealty.

In my district, the goopers outnumber the Dems by 7%. I’m sure a strong registration drive would remedy that, but the Dems here just don’t have the cojones. I was very active in politics in the early 80s, I’m too old and too tired now.
I agree and I really get pizzed at those among us who say then do something. I stood for office, my case school board, and served 3 terms. Now I fight cancer, also old at 75 and believe that it is the turn of those who say then do something, take your words and do something, words are cheap, do something. I’m looking directly at the Democrats here in TN who can’t even be bothered to field candidates for the state legislature or national office.
Now you understand WHY Moscow Mitch spent all the Senate’s time frantically stuffing “Federalist Society” judges into every single Circuit and Appeals Court position possible, appointing almost 25% of ALL federal judges based SOLELY on how the Fascist Federalist Society rated them.
They are now in a position to subvert Democracy on a NATIONAL SCALE, throwing the election into such chaos that it goes all the way up to the SCOTUS, which they now have an insurmountable 5-4 advantage (I do NOT think Justice Roberts will vote with the zealots on the court, but it no longer matters.)

In every election until now, if your mailed ballot was postmarked by Election Day, it would be counted. But Trump has taken apart a trusted institution to guarantee that overwhelmed postal workers might be held back from delivering your ballot. And his courts have said those ballots wouldn’t count.
I think your vote, Democratic or Republican, red state or blue state, should be counted if you cast it by Election Day.

If you haven’t mailed your ballot, check to see how you can get it to your election officials. If you haven’t gotten your ballot go to your polls and cast a provisional vote. And if you want to vote on Election Day, November 3, stay in line no matter how long it takes. Show Donald Trump and his corrupt friends that we the people won’t stand for these shenanigans. Don’t let him steal this election.
