Coronavirus Likely To Make Meat More Expensive And Harder To Find | Talking Points Memo

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Meat isn’t going to disappear from supermarkets because of outbreaks of the coronavirus among workers at U.S. slaughterhouses. But as the meat plants struggle to remain open, consumers could face less selection and slightly higher prices.

Trump can’t find his meat, but I’m not sure if it’s related or not.

“The letter encourages government leaders to unite to address food supply chain challenges,” Mickelson said.

Hasn’t Jared “Full Metal Jackass” Kushner been assigned that task yet?

Slightly OT, but Andrew Cuomo has greater approval for his COVID-19 handling than Trump . . .

. . .among NY Rethugs.

I’m sure all the meatless details are all tied up within the Stormy Daniels NDA.

“…Make Meat More Expensive and Harder to Find”

It’s an uncomfortable reality that the synergies between global pandemic and stabilizing the climate continue to mount.

Not to worry, our well-fed press corpse was all over this at the last White House “briefing”.

Questioner: “Is the nation’s food supply secure?”

Trump “Yes.”

Questioner: “OK, then I have a follow-up question on a different subject…”

It’s not just meat: it’s a yeast shortage, produce rotting, milk being dumped, food banks straining…

That the slow-motion collapse of our food-supply chain is not front-and-center is criminal.

The only thing worse than the Trump Pandemic of 2020 will be the Trump Famine of 2020.

In America!

If there was ever a time for Chuckles Todd on Press the Meat to rise to the challenge, this is it.

Man, I really wish the media would sit on stories like this. The news doesn’t really need to be put out there and serves only to cause more panic buying which will make the situation worse.

I agree with you. Same with the story this morning about how some hospital is experimenting with the active ingredient in Pepcid to treat COVID patients. It’s an experiment and they do it intravenously and use much higher amounts than are present in the OTC medication but you just know that it’s going to be totally wiped off the shelves.

This meat story will have same affect - I agree.

It would be really nice if that last point got some play in the actual article, rather than being buried in the quote. The passing mention of record amounts of meat in cold storage also undercuts the argument for running the lines faster
