Cop Who Was Beaten During Insurrection Says It’s ‘Very Difficult’ Watching GOPers Downplay Jan. 6

Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officer Michael Fanone, who suffered a heart attack after being beaten by the pro-Trump insurrectionists at the Capitol on January 6, slammed ex-President Donald Trump and the lawmakers who have been downplaying the events of that day.

Still super surprised how only one person was shot in the whole riot.

It’s just my opinion of course, but I think towards the end of the trials for the insurrectionists most Americans will see them for what they are:

Filthy anti American scum.

Fanone did not specifically mention that the “elected officials” he was calling out were Republicans

For that matter, has he denied that the attackers were antifa?

A wise woman once said, “When people show you who they are, believe them.”

The Republicans have shown you exactly who they are, Officer Fanone. Believe them. Their followers tried to kill you on 6 Jan 2021, and the leaders are now trying to deny that anything happened, or in the alternative that the whole thing was caused by their ‘enemies’, people like me.

As an individual, I think your appropriate response is to never vote for a Republican again. They have shown you who they are. Believe them.

And the irony that the officer killed was a Trump supporter is ironic as well. I guess Blue Lives didn’t matter.

Sometimes I wonder if the tsunami of truly tragic, terrible, depressing news stories and events has had the effect of inuring almost the entire populace to such things, to the point outrage and the will to do anything about any of it is drained of everyone. Cops kill someone, somewhere, negligently, seemingly almost every other day of the year. Politicians are accused of all manner of crimes, often to no effect on their career or their standing in whatever body they serve. Animus driven gridlock is rampant at all levels of government. The environment is going to hell, and little progress seems possible stopping it. On and on and on it goes.
This policeman is troubled no one seems to care the insurrection occurred. I think it would be more surprising if people did care.

I watched his interview with Lemon much earlier. Oh yeah, and the guy who took the selfie in Pelosi’s office is out of jail.

OT:
Another video that disturbed me was was the Loveland, Colorado police laughing about hearing a pop when they dislocated the 73 year old woman’s shoulder with dementia during a sickening use of force arrest. The video is at the police station after the arrest and they are watching the arrest on a screen before them while commenting on the arrest and laughing.

Wait til the sentences are passed on the traitors. That may change your count.

OT, but still related - how the destruction of press credibility continues apace:

And then on Tuesday, in a one-sentence note at the bottom of the original online article, the Post acknowledged that almost none of it was true.

The authoritarians have not missed a beat.

“It’s been very difficult seeing elected officials and other individuals kind of whitewash the events of that day or downplay what happened,”
Esp. since they love to say they are the “law and order” party.

Nah. It was hugs and kisses all around. I’m sure that’s what Rep. Westerman (RWNJ-AR) was concerned about when he hid for hours in the bathroom with a sword..

You know those trumpanzees; they just don’t like public displays of affection.

Disgusting. They should resign in shame before they get fired.

Somehow, they didn’t manage to uncover the left-wing conspiracy to have lone star ticks bite all Trump voters so that they develop allergies to red meat.

You must not know any RepubliQans. They will consider anybody convicted as martyrs for the cause and it wouldn’t surprise me to see the next RepubliQan president pardon all of them.

I was listening to MSNBC with one ear open last night, and someone said, “This is not a training problem. It is a recruitment problem.”

I don’t entirely agree: we have to train police that their sidearm is a last resort, not the first resort. We need to teach them how to de-escalate confrontations.

But there is a strong recruitment component in our current problems. We will continue to have these problems as long as we recruit people with authoritarian mind-sets to be police, and as long as we indoctrinate those who are hired into authoritarian mind-sets.

One of Soros’s finest crisis actors.

Why won’t the media show all the hugging and kissing of officers during the informal tour of the Capitol building?

They should have been fired already, but I’m guessing the local police union has made that difficult.
