Conway Defends Trump Comments On Cases | Talking Points Memo

A prime example of Hanna Arendt’s conclusions regarding the banality of evil—an insight into the frequently commonplace motives of evil’s perpetrators—would be the actions of US government employees at ports of entry and elsewhere in the last week of January.

The men and women who reportedly handcuffed small children and the elderly, separated a child from his mother and held others without food for 20 hours, are undoubtedly “ordinary” people. …a reminder that authoritarians have no trouble finding the people they need to carry out their acts of cruelty. They do not need special monsters; they can issue orders to otherwise unexceptional people who will carry them out dutifully.

Chris Edelson, Feb 06, 2017

“Historians have a word for Germans who joined the Nazi Party, not because they hated Jews, but out of hope for restored patriotism. or a sense of economic anxiety, or a hope to preserve their religious values, or dislike for their opponents, or raw political opportunism, or convenience, or ignorance, or greed.

That Word is Nazi! Nobody cares about their motives anymore.” —A.R. Moxon

“… And besides, in Australia, winter is in the summer, now that must count for something. The mainstream media just doesn’t want to give Trump any credit.”

Some 1,100 former career and politically appointed folk from DoJ are calling on Barr to resign. I doubt he will … at least not until trump parks a knife in his back via twitter.

I doubt even that’ll make him resign: like Donnie, the best protection he has against what he’s done is keeping the job.

Conway told Wallace that “it’s very different to pick up the phone and ask your attorney general to do something in a criminal case.”

The President hasn’t done that,” Conway said. “He said he hasn’t done it, Barr says he hasn’t done it — he hasn’t done it. That’s incredibly important.”

For the same reason TPM prints it.

I give Barr one week. Specifically, Trump will fire Barr before March 31st.

ARRRRHH This entire story just highlights everything wrong with our media and how it’s failing the country!

So all indications are the president is interfering in justice department decisions with an attorney general who is a willing participant in turning the justice department into a political entity investigating republican ‘enemies’ and opponents, but what is ever gawd damn story about… how these two PERSONALITIES get along! THIS IS NOT THE STORY WE SHOULD CARE ABOUT. And while I’m ranting stop using disingenuous political actors for sources! Conway lies every time she speaks, why is this getting any consideration? Even our liberal press is falling for this catfight bullshit.

It’s false premises all the way down. It’s a teetering stack of false premises with the conclusion you want people to draw placed on top like a cherry on a false-premise parfait. It’s a fantasy world where when certain people say things you pretend that what they’re saying is necessarily so, like that person hasn’t told 16,000 lies that we know of in the past three years. It’s a world where you can deflect and obfuscate and make invalid comparisons nonstop like a cheap burlesque fan-dancer from 1931. And it’s not even taken seriously on FOX anymore. And most of all, it’s a world in which there are no constraints on Donald J. Trump’s behavior and never can be.

" Conway Won’t Say Trump Will Respect Barr’s Request To Stop Commenting On Cases"

How is this news?

It’s tragically ironic that as our professionals in law enforcement, DoJ, and the Intelligence agencies continue to stay loyal to the Constitution and steadfast to the rule of law they’ve sworn allegiance to in order to stay faithful to America’s ideals, it’s those same ideals that may well result in all of us losing the America we knew and loved.

To be clear, I’m not suggesting they should violate the law as the other side is clearly doing, but it’s fighting with all four limbs tightly bound.

I also remember the time that Obama threatened the lives of reporters and urged his followers to punch them. Oh wait…
Well maybe it’s the time that W charged secret service for staying at his ranch at extortionate rates. No that’s not it.

Well, all presidents breath, or had breathed before they died, oxygen. So did George Washington. 45* is no different than any of them, therefore, he is Lincoln’s equal in intelligence and strength.

Conway then argued that “it’s not correct to say that presidents have not interfered” and added that “Bill Clinton pardoned a relative.

‘45’ pardoned Joe

Because the corruption of the justice system is key to establishing an authoritarian state and that’s what we’re seeing happen.

She can always show the middle finger, stonewall or obfuscate. But someday soon, Kellyanne, Trump’s EPA choices and coconspiring with McConnell, won’t be enough e.g. to explain liver and testicular cancers of firefighters. From Kalamazoo to Tupelo, the government’s PFAS response just won’t cut it.

A scoop of off-brand ice milk with 100% artificial cherry-like flavoring and a dose of Reddi-Whip on top is exactly the same as Vanilla-Bean Gelato made by Carapina.
