“Constitutional Sheriffs” Hold Conference On Using Militias And “Citizen Armies” To Stop Migrant “Voters”
Wired reports:
Election deniers are now advocating for a far-right sheriff’s group called the Constitutional Sheriffs to recruit an army of like-minded citizens to patrol polling stations and stop the “expected flood” of “illegal” immigrant voters. Constitutional Sheriffs are a group of elected sheriffs around the country who believe that they hold the ultimate power in their county, and are not answerable to any federal or state authority.
“[Immigrants] have already disrupted the election because they are getting registered to vote,” Richard Mack, a former sheriff who is the founder of the far–right Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association (CSPOA), tells WIRED. Mack spoke at the CSPOA conference in Las Vegas on Wednesday, where over 100 attendees listened to speaker after speaker on stage push the debunked claim that immigrants voting for President Joe Biden posed the greatest threat to the integrity of the presidential election.

After the Bolshevik revolution we kept WWI era troops in Russia to fight for the White Russians who wanted to bring back the monarchy. It was not their official reason for being in Russia. The point is that then and through the '70s Communism was seen as a bad thing, mostly because it was a threat to world order as defined by plutocrats.
Which brings us back to The Vladster, who has grown in power and wealth by allowing highly corrupt business and crime leaders to accumulate dragon hordes of wealth. In a world where money is speech and the quantity of money is volume, Vlad;s pocket change has convinced a surprising lot of Americans that Russia should get whatever the hell Putin wants. How’s that for a new world order?

This could be entertaining. Constitutional sheriffs exist because the county sheriff is an elected position. They are elected in conservative, rural counties so if they disrupt the voting process, they are messing with the voters who elected them. Typically, if there are liberal enclaves in these counties, they have been gerrymandered into oblivion (example, Moab, UT) or watered down by the surrounding conservative voters.

Not “many”, Khaya, almost all. Like 99.9 %. If there were even one real case of Democrat committing election fraud, we would be hearing about it non-stop. The dozens of republicans who have been caught committing actual fraud are never mentioned above a whisper in the press.

I suspect that FBI are way better trained than these county mounties. The FBI actually has its own military force, ready to go. Mounties might play soldier only if they have the money for it in the civil forfeiture piggy bank.
I’d like to think that “constitutional” shire reeves believe in having a brisk and longish walk daily to keep one’s self regular, but from the cruiser to the donut counter is all the bandwidth many of them have got.

The Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association is a far-right movement that began in 2011, which experts say has only been emboldened since 2020 election denialism became a tenant of the MAGA right and a focus for the group.
As far as I’m concerned these people are the SS of MAGA. That is a strong statement and I do not shy away from it.
