‘Constitutional’ Sheriff Cheers On Absentee Ballot Stunt By Right Wing Activist - TPM – Talking Points Memo

To me this sounds more like a person who read a book about how to be a petty dictator.

“Constitutional” sheriffs assert that they are the highest law enforcement authorities in their counties — above even state and federal authorities — and also that they have a duty to ignore laws they personally deem unconstitutional.

Well done, both of you. I suppose you can use the First Amendment defense … or the “We can do whatever we want” defense. The choice is yours.

I mean sure, if I broke a law and then bitched about cops not enforcing the law… to a cop who wasn’t enforcing the law… I’d be as dumb as these two idiots.

The AZRep is catching on. They actually used the word “idiotic” in the headline as opposed to “Arizona Republican Chair Kelli Ward Alleges Sinister Pen Plot.”

Not so much. It is from an opinion piece by EJ Montini

Ah. Well, I’m devastated now. After having read it, though, I can see that.

“Montini”?!

What kind of swarthy, garlic-eater, un-American name is that?!

Well, there ya go. Diversity is lethal to the GOP. It would appear that Laura has hit upon it.

I believe it. Every time Mrs Von Holst revs up her Prius it makes a sound like a Banshee whose hand is caught in a car door and the Wifi signal goes down one bar. God knows what a Ford Lightening might do.

Calling yourself a “constitutional” or “christian” whatever means you are the opposite of that.

Or for political purposes, if your not a “christian”, then you must be one of the Christ killers.

“Claiming that by committing a crime by submitting false information to obtain an absentee ballot somehow reveals a vulnerability of our system is inaccurate and irresponsible,” WEC Administrator Meagan Wolfe said in a statement. “Intentionally using someone else’s identity to subvert the system does not demonstrate a flaw with MyVote, but rather a flaw with that person’s conduct. A nefarious person who chooses to impersonate someone else in order to gain official documents of any kind – whether for election use or any other purpose – is clearly violating state and federal law and could face consequences.”

WEC staff attorney Jim Witecha, answering a question from the commission about the process for criminal referrals, noted how serious the apparent crimes are because they were made against an online system that’s designated “critical infrastructure” of the United States.

“One final point — to the extent that the commission wishes to engage — is to remember that this is a system that we’re talking about that is an offshoot of the statewide voter registration system, and that’s something that we’re statutorily required to create, maintain and secure,” Witecha said. “And then also that is critical infrastructure that is protected at the federal level, as well as our state level as well. And so you know, these are no small attempted attacks, if you will, because this is a system that has a designation of protection as critical infrastructure of the United States. So this is no small matter…"

Exactly. AND, the ballots were sent to the homes of the persons he “impersonated.” So, um, said person wonders why they got an absentee ballot and likely destroys it.

Now, if our “Hero” here was planning on watching the mail of the impersonated persons AND stealing that absentee ballot (Theft of US Mail) and then voting “for” said persons, now we have voter fraud.

Charge him with the crime of false info for requesting the ballot anyway. Let’s get it on his record.

I can’t seem to find any reference to any document from whence this “duty” derives…other than in their own imaginations. :frowning:

That Sheriff needs to be imprisoned for fraud.

And for you originalists, the word “Sheriff” does not appear anywhere in the Constitution.

It’s a corollary group to the equally stupid Sovereign Citizen movement.

Which also has no “founding documentation,” right?
