Conservatives haven’t figured out that it’s difficult to contain that level of evil. You can’t just expect that it will stay aimed at “the other”. At some point, everyone is the other for these people. We’ve seen it for years in their “more conservative than thou” rhetoric. The astonishing thing is that Texas Republicans ever elected him at all.

My best friend broke his neck in an innocent diving accident at age 24. He was a veteran, and received remarkably rehabiliative care, and follow-up therapy for the rest of his life from the VA. He successfully wheel-chaired through it all. He never complained to me, and I spent a lot of time with him until his death at age 55.

The two cretinous characters of this story should be ashamed that they have miniscule courage to do, and say the right things about life, and all participants.

**Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick called the two conservative activists “persona non grata” in his book, along with anyone who doesn’t condemn the comments.
