Congress Passes Two-Day Stopgap Funding Bill To Avert Shutdown | Talking Points Memo

WASHINGTON (AP) — Congress passed a two-day stopgap spending bill Friday night, averting a partial government shutdown and buying yet more time for frustratingly slow endgame negotiations on an almost $1 trillion COVID-19 economic relief package.

This is how the child of alcoholic parents always feels at Christmas - hoping for normalcy, expecting a disaster, and knowing that no matter what happens everything is going to snap back to standard awful the day after.

I am very, very tired of the likes of Mitch McConnell running my country.

The je ne sais quoi of the law is the spirit of good faith and reasonableness. Otherwise, adherence to rules is stupid at best and cruel at worst. The venal GOP in Congress, under both McCarthy and McConnell, have produced a kind of stupidity of the law in a blind pursuit for power at any price. The US is now, and has been for a while, in a Constitutional crisis. It’s not, however, so much the failure of archaic institutional structures and rules, as the raw desire for power.

Trump’s Republican try to figure out how they can harm as many of us and get away with it and still get reelected by blaming their sins on Dems.

Peter Navarro releases 36-page report alleging election fraud ‘more than sufficient’ to swing victory to Trump https://washex.am/3nwaBCe. A great report by Peter. Statistically impossible to have lost the 2020 Election. Big protest in D.C. on January 6th. Be there, will be wild!

Dear Peter is the man who got into a huff about his ability to read scientific papers in a field he had no expertise in whatsoever. And look - now he is writing them! What a genius he must be. I can only give thanks for the day when Jared began a Google search for someone who would support rump’s crank bullshit about trade wars and found this guy on Amazon.

Is this real? Or am I in some kind of lucid and extremely detailed coma?

A reminder that the GOP has no intention of working with Biden.

Interesting. I hadn’t heard of Smartmatic, as the claims against Dominion took up most of the oxygen. I’ve been wondering since the election why Dominion hasn’t filed a defamation suit against these clowns.

Also hoping there’s a chance that Smartmatic says “too little, too late.” One segment on each personality’s show probably won’t undo multiple broadsides. I’d think the “entertainment, not news” defense would be wearing a little thin and be disregarded completely and/or would love a result of an order to explicitly state News or Opinion in every segment before, during and after every show if they want to keep operating.
