You just need to be downwind.
āPeople donāt know the value!ā
Kinda a redundant list, there
Sureā¦We already see Ted āPARKS!ā Cruz gearing up to accuse Joe of ⦠something. Sleep disorder? Spending too much of TAXPAYERS money on things that matter to THEM? More investigations?
It would seem like a pretty obvious issue to pick a fight over ā we are a nation who pays our bills. We canāt let a small minority jeopardize the full faith and credit of these United States, itās time to reform the filibuster ā
I think thatās exactly what MoscowMitch wants. He likes to make the Dems do the ādirty workā, so he can point to it later as why heās obligated to do other things. Thatās how the initial nuclear option came about, he forced the Dems into situations where they had no other choice.
Their real goal here is transparent: force Democrats to include the ceiling hike in the reconciliation package and, in so doing, manufacture another tension point over which chaos-happy moderates can kill the package.
Between chaos-happy moderates and radical seditionist conservatives, we seem to have a complete breakdown of basic English.
āOver in the Senate, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) is also gleefully threatening to derail the twinned process.ā
This episode of Plutocracy Theater was brought to you by the letter $.
Itās what heās being paid to do and the result weāre going to get. And he and the MSM are going to lead the charge on behalf of the GQP and Faux News blaming the progressives.
Just mint the damn coin already.
There are some great Performance Artists in our midstā¦and there are serious people talking to each other in closed venues (like the last time).
Iāll leave it at that.
Sleepy Joe and Napping Nancy?
And this is how democracy dies, when stupid and selfish assholes like S & M put their own vanity and interests above that of the whole, and party be damned, and enable the other side to take advantage of this disunity and weakness to swoop in and take over. And they are stupid and selfish and very, very, very vain, verging on outright mental illness. What ridiculous children both are. This is how the Nazis took over, when the other parties refused to budge and work out their differences.
If this isnāt resolved fairly soon, the GOP WILL take congress back in 2022 and the WH in 2024. GUARANTEED.
Given how obvious this is and what it would mean, is there any indication that either is a plant, perhaps made offers or otherwise threatened so they could sabotage the Biden/Dem agenda from within? Something really stinks here.
Or Psycho Sinema and Moron Manchin?
O/T Covid will cost you big bucks
The days when insurance companies would waive co-pays and deductibles for COVID hospitalizations are over.
Insurance Companies Stop Being āNiceā: Covid Will Cost You | Crooks and Liars
Always should have been charging folks. We donāt have nationalized healthcare, no reason that that burden ever should have been socialized on the rest of us at the whim of the health insurance companies.
Would change the debate if people hadnāt been bailed out early and often-- thatās the only reason the insurance companies āwaivedā (which translates to socialize-- they didnāt eat the cost, they just make all of us premium payers share in it) things to begin with, they knew this might be the nail in the coffin of their business if they didnāt do something.
Quando omni flunkus moratiti.
Everything written in the last week or so is speculation from pundits who are paid by the word. Congress goes home but the DC establishment rehashes old info. and pretends itās a scoop. TPM as well.
Itās a one-room schoolhouse, where the big kids have to do serious work serious work amidst the din of the 5-year-olds.
So this is where we stand at the moment:
Manchin/Sinema: They are actively trying to break the two-track strategy by forcing House Dems to move forward with the bipartisan infra plan vote on Sept 27th and punting on reconciliation until 2022. Their goal is to get the House to kill the 2 track process without getting their fingerprints on it.
Biden: Was asked by Manchin to move up and push to do the BIF vote first and get a quick win. Biden told Manchin he would not move up the date or push for a quick vote on the bipartisan bill until he got a commitment from Manchin to support reconciliation. It seems that Biden would not try to push liberal Dems to support the bipartisan bill absent a commitment on reconciliation.
Sinema: Came into the WH like an inexperienced bull in a china shop who thinks she has more power than she actually has, and told Biden that she would not vote for reconciliation if the House liberals delayed or voted down the bipartisan infra bill. This is a bit of inscrutable gas lighting on her part because she has never made a commitment to the final reconciliation bill. This is a threat designed to push Biden to abandon reconciliation and take the win on infrastructure. Iām pretty sure Biden said ānoā.
Pelosi: Seems to be getting her caucus together on her terms. She will not be dictated to by Manchin/Sinema. AOC signaled support for SALT reform. Josh Gottheimer, leader of the SALT caucus and the Mods in the House, sent a tweet supporting reconciliation and the climate change provisions. That sounds like Pelosi getting the band together.
Big Pharma: Seems to be calling in their chits with Dems to oppose prescription drug reform. They are connected with lobbyist groups like Mark Pennās and others to lobby Dems to vote against reconciliation, and specifically the prescription drug reform piece.
Liberals: Are of the view that the two track process was an essential understanding between mods and libs to move the infra bill forward in the Senate. They expect Mods to do their part. House Libs appear prepared to delay or kill the bipartisan infra bill if the Mods refuse to reach a deal on reconciliation. This might be what is needed to knock the Mods into gear.
The biggest problem the WH has is that the framing has centered around the 3.5T outlay and not the content or the fact that this bill is paid for. Itās not in the public mindset so Manchin/Sinema can flex and play to the DC establishment. WH needs to change that narrative to get them in line. It may also take a delay in the vote schedule or a strategic loss to wake these folks up.
Liberals donāt need the infra bill. They donāt even like it. Itās just a pacifier to get the mods in line. The Mods need the infra bill and they need a lot of the stuff thatās in reconciliation but theyāre fronting now, trying to have their cake and eat it too, and try to push Biden to settle for less b/c of declining poll ratings.
I think the Mods are naive but the liberals have to demonstrate their power in this new era and flex a bit. They need to show the Mods they will kill that infra bill if they donāt deal fairly and in good faith. The Mods are in a 90s mindset when the electorate was more white and more conservative. Todayās electorate is different. It is more left, and even the Trumpers like a lot of Big govāt Dem programs.
Weāll see how this plays out but Iād bet on Pelosi getting the House together. The issue is whether Manchin/Sinema have the stones to kill the reconciliation bill or whether they will actually negotiate a face saving way where they can claim a āwinā and still vote for the two bills.
