With Special Counsel Robert Mueller set to testify before Congress on Wednesday, there is now confusion over whether or not a longtime aide of his will testify alongside him as well.

Swear him in. The more the merrier. Get Weissman in there too. Fine by me.

Why do you think he wants him there?

I have never, in all my life, ever seen such control of the criminal justice system by the country’s top criminal.

At some point, people are going to have to refer to this man as a criminal the way they referred to Capone before he was brought to justice.

Extra memory, perhaps. And Zebley might know more specific details after having carried out a task. “Get me all the information on such and such” is one thing. Actually doing all the research to get said information is another level of knowing.

Aaron Zebley will be sworn in along with Mueller. Zebley has been in counterterrorism at FBI and DOJ since the Clinton years. He likely formed a tight bond with Mueller when Mueller was FBI director. This is probably a good thing for Team Blue. If you wanted Mueller to be more forthcoming having one of his boyz with him who clearly has a sense of national interest and national security is probably a good thing. Zebley being a lot younger might also give Mueller that extra support to deal with answering questions from the nutter side of the house.

So you mean Barr hasn’t deputized Zebley to man the shock collar button in the event that Mueller steps over the line??? LOL!!!

Why do you think he wants him there?

It sounds like Mueller wanted someone trusted to support him in what he wants to do there, whatever that is.
To all appearances, that isn’t, however, isomorphic with what Barr wants. If it were, he coulda asked DOJ for an attorney to remind him when to stop speaking.

That’s what Mueller requested but the Democrats declined, so Zebley will be there not to field questions himself but only to help Bob answer questions.

Or that’s the plan as of now, anyway.

Any DOJ attorney wouldn’t let Mueller speak at all.

“Mueller is also set to testify before the House Intelligence Committee on Tuesday.”

Wait, what? Did I get stoned and missed it?

I don’t trust Mueller(R ), and this last-minute tactic is highly suspicious.

He has been asked to testify for months now, and now he drops this the day before?

Mueller is a Republican, and he is a former FBI director. The FBI has been a tool of the ultra-rightwing since its inception. Mueller is not to be trusted.

My guess – I think that Mueller wanted him there as a “fact witness” to dispute any “13 angry dems” accusations. As “chief of staff”, Zebley would have been the guy assigned to advise Mueller regarding the hiring of additional prosecutors, and to vet those who were chosen. This would make Zebley an “expert” on the qualifications of each member of Mueller’s team.
