After weeks of clamoring and buildup, House Oversight Committee chair Rep. James Comer (R-KY) on Thursday will oversee a vote to hold FBI Director Christopher Wray in contempt of Congress.

No cats…

The GOP criminal enterprise is huge and historic.

Reagan’s tripling of the national debt is part of this plot.

It’s almost like there’s been a vast, right wing conspiracy afoot for years. I wish someone had warned us about it.

Just more performative bullshit from the GQP. It’s all they’ve got.

A big piece of the over-arching plot of the X-Files during the Mulder years was Operation Paperclip, a real-life effort by the US government to shield Nazi scientists from prosecution and bring them to the US to, ostensibly, do sciency stuff. The X-Files take was that they were brought here to help US fascists realize the Fourth Reich.

At the time, it was great television. Now, it feels a bit prophetic.

While I guess if a Republican appointed by Donald Trump is not satisfactory to Republicans, and he feels forced to resign, then may be President Biden can just appoint a Democrat to the position instead.

Works for me.

Comer is strikingly unsuited to his task. The aspect of the House GOP I most appreciate is their incompetence and Comer has it in spades.

If the Republican House wants to abuse the FBI and Republican Wray - A J6 protector no-show - I wish I cared more. The FBI never has been a friend to me or my kind.

I believe he’s planning on running for the Senate from MD which he tells us
means he’s recovered with negative detection of cancer cells. He’d be so good at this job since this body has less crazies in it than the other body.

I have held off on getting Toobin’s book on McVeigh because of his Zoom shenanigans.

What is the statute of limitations on acting like a pig?

Headline midway down on cnn…
“Pete Davidson has an update on that ferry he bought with Colin Jost.”
… … … … … … …
Who is Pete Davidson?
Who is Colin Jost?
Why would I give a shit if they bought a ferry?
Why would I need an update?

cnn has become a supermarket tabloid and that is really really sad. It used to post actual informative journalism that mattered.

Editing note: The sixth paragraph after the “Old made new again” subhead says “The claim was that the prosecutor was fired for not going after a gas company advised by Hunter Biden. It’s an allegation that’s been thoroughly refuted, in part because it never made sense: the prosecutor faced criticism for not investigating, not for being too aggressive.” But I think you intend for it to say “The claim was that the prosecutor was fired for going after a gas company advised by Hunter Biden. It’s an allegation that’s been thoroughly refuted, in part because it never made sense: the prosecutor faced criticism for not investigating, not for being too aggressive.” If so, you should delete that extra “not.”

Toobin’s book on McVeigh is well worth reading and I recommend it. I’m a big fan of forgiveness, gawd knows I’ve often needed some, but you’ll learn that McVeigh set in motion the OK bombings in the aftermath of Waco. The statute, BTW, says one is forgiven after one Zoom-palooza, after that, you’re on your own. He was fired by the New Yorker and is repentant. I enjoy his writing too much to cast him into the garbage bin.
