Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) stepped up over the weekend as one of the few Republican senators willing to criticize President Donald Trump for asking foreign countries to dig up dirt on his political rivals.
Americans don’t look to Chinese commies for the truth,” Sasse said
Have we addressed this part of Sasse’s comment? What fucking decade is he living in? What fucking decade is Nebraska living in that he talks like this?
“I thought the President made a big mistake by asking China to get involved in investigating a political opponent,”
When you do something completely in character, deliberately, defend it to the hilt, trash the critics, lie about it multiple times and attempt a full blown cover up including trying to ruin multiple individuals including accusing them of unsubstantiated crimes then I think it is a mistake to call this a “Mistake”.
The end of Collins’ speech was interesting: “Susan, it’s okay to say this to make the Maine sheep happy, but don’t take any questions, Thanks, Mitch – oh sorry, I wasn’t supposed to read that last part.”
It’s going to be interesting to watch Collins scramble for the next year in an attempt to separate herself from all the Trump support she has given in the past three years. Hopefully all it does is tarnish her legacy as an ex-Senator come Nov 2020, as Maine elects a Senator that actually believes in making life better for Mainers and Americans, instead of just for wealthy Republican donors. She deserves all the scorn she gets for going along with the Republicans and their cruelty.
“I thought the President made a big mistake by asking China to get involved in investigating a political opponent,” the senator told the Bangor Daily News on Saturday. “It’s completely inappropriate. And that is all I am ever going to say or do about it.”
So far I’ve been somewhat encouraged that anchors aren’t really breathing air into Schiff’s ridiculously minor unforced error with the so-called “parody” of the phone call. They are letting guests spew it however.
That’s a damned good question. Certainly, closer ties with us is something they’ve been working on for years, in earnest since Crimea (With Kaliningrad right on their northern border, Russia is literally at their gates).
But since those closer ties are against what Putin wants, it’s very interesting that we not only maintained Obama-levels of support but actually increased and made moves towards permanent bases there.
And the visa-waiver bit has been something they’ve wanted even longer.
Knowing that Trump is transactional, he’s not going against Putin here for free.
