A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo.
Someone left a message written in chalk on the sidewalk outside of Sen. Susan Collins’ (R-ME) home in Bangor, Maine on Saturday begging her to pass legislation to enshrine abortion rights into law, so naturally the GOP senator called the police to investigate the “defacement of public property” that can be washed away with a garden hose.
Yup - and in the process, the national news will use this as an example of the radical Left threatening Senators in their homes. Much like the national news is making an example of the protesters outside Kav’s house.
No mention of course of the hundreds of threats made by the Rightwing Nut Jobs against local, State and Federal officials they don’t agree with.
I suspect Gabby Giffords might want to have a word with Susan about threats.
Everyone one of these Senators will ignore the fact that this bill directly affects them, their daughters, granddaughters and nieces.
They will still vote against it. This is eight votes that we have no chance of converting to a clear win, because dogma outweighs common sense with these eight.
I won’t even include Sinema in this list because no one knows what she is. In more ways than one.
And the band plays on… Add Perdue to the list of colored me surprised that I got caught Republicans:
and Matt Gaetz
I have a day job, but when I get a chance, I’ll create a list with links regarding Republican politicians who desperately need a mental health assessment for varying reasons owing to their inability to deal with reality and facts. And people in this country voted for these individuals? Really? If the consequences weren’t so serious, I’d make some popcorn and watch the slow motion crash, but people’s safety and livelihoods are at stake.
Vote. Get everyone you know to vote. But don’t play the Republican game of voting multiple times by registering in multiple locations:
You just can’t make this stuff up…and it keeps coming too.
Hey my Congresswoman already did this two election cycles ago.
Can stand outside her district office because there is no public sidewalk. The building’s landlord called the police on protesters.
So they moved to the Congresswoman’s street in front of her house. Police got called. So some protesters chalked messaged their complaints. Not sure if she or a neighbor called the police, but what the police found was a chalked message on her driveway.
the GOP senator called the police to investigate the “defacement of public property” that can be washed away with a garden hose.
Well, now we know where Susan Collins stands on the issue of freedom of speech. Or freedom to chalk. I wonder if the Senator would call the FBI should this person self-quote in a letter.
Her vote tomorrow will erase all manner of that title, much like the garden hose erased the chalk message outside her house (if the rain didn’t get to it first).
