CO, USPS Settle Dispute Over Postal Service’s Confusing Vote-By-Mail Advice | Talking Points Memo

Well, at least the U.S. Postal Service has been able to resolve one dispute in the several that have emerged around its ability to handle this year’s surge in vote-by-mail.

Regardless, I hope DeJoy goes to DaJail.

As part of the settlement, the agency also agreed to seek input from Colorado’s election officials for any future guidance it gives the public on vote-by-mail, including on any campaign planned for television, radio, print or other media.

Of course, because the confusion has already been sown and the mailers will go out in other parts of the country. We’ll consult if we’re thinking of “helping” any more in Colorado.

DeJoy is coming to the table only because he’s getting his ass handed to him in every lawsuit, to date, filed against the USPS under his disgraceful leadership.

This official in Colorado rocks. More power to her and more like her, please.

Terminal stupidity to even think that there is a ‘one size fits all’ way to approach voting. It arguably would be a good thing to have, but anyone who plans to send out a presumptuous mailer purporting to give guidance damn well should know the laws that apply where they’re sending the material. I would guess they were trying to create some confusion and anxiety but didn’t have a clue as to just how stupid they were being.

The USPS also helpfully offered to send the the election day reminder early, telling voters to come to the polls November 10th.

I still want to know who’s behind this fiasco. Trump ‘political appointees’ no doubt.

Especially coming after all that “cost cutting” over at USPS. You’d think they’d be holding off on mailing many millions of postcards considering the expense, since they also have to pay those exorbitant staffer salaries…

I received one here in Idaho. And no, it did not at all align with what our election officials are saying in terms of process and timing. No doubt the Freedumb Fryers will find a way to blame it all on those evil, evil pedophile Democrats…

“Under the settlement, USPS will destroy whatever is left of the mailers that had not yet been sent out to Colorado voters.”

Even more unnecessary waste of USPS employees time caused by these assholes.

Even now, USPS helicopters are dropping the mailers into under-served neighborhoods. No sense in wasting bad info…

Why is NO ONE ever responsible for any of these SNAFUs? It’s always just “things happened” or “it was sent without advance notice.”

We are being governed by the goddamned passive voice.

We received the flyer here in Colorado two days ago, so it seems that any actions by USPS in this state are very much closing the barn door after the horse has bolted.

We have enough trouble in Oregon, what with rural Oregonians burned out of their homes, a week of super toxic air, and the pandemic, without USPS telling us to request our mail-in ballots, as they do in this mailer. (Mine came yesterday.) I expect that the majority of us here will not have forgotten that we’ve had voting by mail, and only by mail, “forever”… i.e., ever since voters approved it by 2 to 1 in a statewide referendum over two decades ago.

USPS even uses the imperative mood: “Request your mail-in ballot (often called “absentee” ballot) at least 15 days before Election Day.” – an imperative, as in, “Do your homework!” or “Give me your license and registration…”

Oregon automatically sends out ballots to our registered voters. But I expect that many, misled by USPS, will flood overworked county election officials with requests for their mail-in ballots…

As usual, I wonder if the Trumpists are merely ignorant and confused, or cynically trying to sow confusion. Does it even matter? Evil follows the footsteps of Mad King Donald the Molester

I am going to ask our local official here in Colorado to ask the 2 newspapers In our county to print a clarification.

Thanks for the idea. I wrote the Eugene Register-Guard with the same request.
