Yeah, Rubin can really slice and dice. I used to avoid reading her because she’s very conservative (no, really: actually conservative) and very smart, and a bit too realpolitiky for me. It used to infuriate me when she’d look at everything through those filters. Now she’s the first non-TPM article I read every day. (Except Saturdays. Now I almost get the DTs every Saturday.)
ETA: And Max Boot. Used to find him scary on foreign policy. Still might, but he sure nails Drumpf to the wall.

Probably because they rightfully assumed (based on Impeachment and other senior aides who actually have spoken out), that nothing would change. So they bided their time until they could make their case directly to the American people. I see it as an indictment of not just Trump, but especially of the Republican Senate that could have and should have stopped him.
