I try to be welcoming of the russkie troll brigade. It’s just a job for them, after all, no need for hard feelings.
I’m actually impressed by G2G, he’s improved so much in his grammar over the years, hope the bosses have noted that and given him raises along the way.
I believe there’s a substantial number of them who can be demoralized into not showing up to vote. But tricked? Nah. Given the choice between a Schumer-approved Dem centrist candidate and a know-nothing bigot, the 2020 Trump voter knows precisely which one is going to represent their values in Washington.
Which is bad and dumb if that’s a strategy Schumer is actually trying to employ. I suspect the reality is that Schumer is just not a flamethrower by temperament. Never has been, not gonna start now that he’s minority leader.
Yes, just like old white men will get out of the way.
Obama during a recent speech in Singapore:
“I’m absolutely confident that for two years if every nation on earth was run by women, you would see a significant improvement across the board on just about everything… living standards and outcomes,” he expressed, adding, “If you look at the world and look at the problems it’s usually old people, usually old men, not getting out of the way.”
No i didnt miss it. In fact i said what i did because of McConnells statement—schumer should be emphasizing that relationship is wrong, not acquiesing to it
I’m glad that you’re so much more quick on your feet that, having that breaking news to respond to while in a live interview, you’d pick the perfect response rather than a totally adequate one.
Why oh why aren’t you running for office to save us from the likes of Schumer and Pelosi?
Maybe I’m missing something by Schumer’s suggestion but without the prerequisite depositions on the record, under oath, having Mulvaney and Bolton show up to give testimony without any pretrial knowledge of how they will testify, might be the equivalent of Dems shooting themselves in the foot. In other words, a crapshoot.
Besides, unlike in the House, the Senate Dems do not control the proceedings. They will be following whatever ridiculous strategy and plans McConnell decides to put in place that will undoubtably be intended to make a mockery of the process. Until McConnell’s plans have been transparently agreed to and firmly ironed out with Senate Dems, I wouldn’t be calling for any additional witnesses that could be manipulated for tRump’s advantage.
Bolton has been a bad-faith actor in all this, unwilling to testify in the House, while declaring he has so much more information to disclose but only for his book deal apparently.
Mulvaney has no problem lying his ass off or changing the thrust of his arguments about how he was a part of “being in the loop.” I believe he would pull the same rotten lies and incomplete account of his involvement under oath as easily as he did to the American people standing at a podium, when only a day later he retracted everything he said. This is a man that has no scruples and multiple layers of criminal culpability, all wrapped into the co-conspiratorial efforts to block money to Ukraine. Lying is what he does for tRump. That’s why he’s still there. There is no one who will be able to indict him as long as Senate ReThugs still hold the majority and he knows that.
It’s too early for me right now to figure it out but I see opportunity for Dems in this ‘fix is in’ for Senate trial. But it ain’t Schumer playing the crafty fox. Time for Dem senator or two to weigh in and turn this right back on Moscow Mitch, who wants this done ASAP. There’s no reason for Democrats to let the Republicans control the narrative just because it’s their turn.
Not so much in this case, because you’ve got all of the testimony from the folks around them. So if their stories don’t line up, you know someone is committing perjury, whether or not you can determine if it is them, or, say, Sondland.
True, there’s always the risk that they lie their asses off, on a promise from trump that he’ll pardon them for anything, but even getting them caught in lies on camera will be just fine for the optics. More than a few of the Dems who will be ready to trip them up.
I don’t see why Schumer thinks it is good that the “White House” is reviewing this. Shouldn’t these subpoenas be from the US Senate to the individuals?
