CNN anchor Don Lemon raked former GOP senator-turned-CNN contributor Rick Santorum (R-PA) over the coals on Monday night after Santorum refused to apologize for his racist comments downplaying European settlers’ genocide of Native Americans.
He won’t apologize, being a Republican puts up a non-apology force field around them and their supporters love it. Trump set the standard for racism and they are all trying to match it.
This is very on brand for CNN: Have on regulator contributors that say horrid things so your celeb journos can promote themselves by pushing back on entirely predictable comments.
I am incredibly sick and tired of (mainstream) media giving lying, propagandist assholes like Sancitmonious Santorum megaphones in the name of “bothsiderism.”
Hearing both sides is important, but FFS, gives us a few reality-based Goopers. I know there are a few out there (not yet extinct), so enough with the looney-tunes.
OT but pleasing – with any luck, a harbinger of what’s to come:
The very fact that CNN has people like Santorum even peripherally on their payroll tells you everything you need to know about that scumbag Jeff Zucker.
Anybody else sick to death of these fuckheads like Santorum " mispeaking"…racking my brain to understand what Santorum is "contributing " and why CNN continues to denigrate its status by having empty vessels like him in their employ.
As far as misspeaking goes, when I was a kid my mom was fond of saying, “God gave you two ears and one mouth. Listen twice as much as you speak.” In Santorum’s case, twice as much listening might not be enough.
For all of Oklahoma’s faults, the school system did teach us about the injustices that the ‘5 Civilized Tribes’ suffered in their forced relocation to OK during the ‘Trail of Tears’. Treaties with Native American tribes often contained language that their new lands were theirs “As long as the grass grows and the rivers flow”, but we see how that turned out…
The old saying is…“the best way to tell what a man will be up to tomorrow is to check out what he’s up to today”…
Santorum has made many offensive remarks in the past. Most of them come from his insular existence detached from the kind of life most American’s live. He usually covers his bile with religiosity and the MSM lets him get away with that. CNN wants what he has to offer. They know he’ll do tomorrow what he did today. He’ll be back on you can bet. They want what he has to offer.
I missed the Santorum interview, if " missed " is the right word. But I did see Lemon’s show and the hand off from Chris Cuomo. The 2 of them are buddies and the hand off is usually genial with them yukking it up about something. Not last night, Lemon was genuinely angry and while he didn’t exactly fault Cuomo personally for having Santorum on he did raise hell with him and steadfastly refused to buy into Cuomo’s rationalization for providing a platform for further lies. I wonder if Cuomo might be considering an apology tonight. Personally I think Santorum should have been fired long ago, he is worthless as a commentator and his " analysis " of anything has always been totally wrong. Obvious fools should not be on the air.
I live in a corner of N America where Mi’kmaq and Maliseet have lived for millennia. The Mi’kmaq scoff at the notion of European superiority. “If Christian civilization was so wonderful, why were its inhabitants all trying to settle somewhere else?”
