CNN president Jeff Zucker on Wednesday announced his resignation, citing a relationship with his colleague that came up as part of the investigation into ousted anchor Chris Cuomo’s tenure at the network.
Meanwhile, Fox News President acknowledges frequent child sacrifices, sex orgies, and occasional cannibalism; thanks Murdoch family for glowing performance review and six figure raise.
“I was asked about a consensual relationship with my closest colleague, someone I have worked with for more than 20 years,” Zucker said in his announcement to CNN staffers.
Wow. Either this “consensual relationship” was very, very ugly, and SOMEONE is threatening to disclose, or Zucker is using this as an opportunity to bail with relatively restricted damage before…
This joker is in large part how the USA ended up with Trump as president. All that free airtime gave Trump’s candidacy oxygen (remember the tv screen displaying the empty podium awaiting Heir Trump to spew his BS?). Good riddance to him. “Don’t let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya!”
Dunno that that has to be the case. Could be, but rumors have been swirling for a while about this, so could also just be that, after things like canning Cuomo for violating moral codes of the organization, it was unsustainable to stay on when he’s got his own violations.
Mr. Zucker was referring to Allison Gollust, CNN’s executive vice president and chief marketing officer and one of the highest-ranking leaders of the network, who is closely involved in major business and communications decisions.
Ms. Gollust said in a statement on Wednesday that she was remaining in her role at CNN.
“Jeff and I have been close friends and professional partners for over 20 years,” she wrote. “Recently, our relationship changed during Covid. I regret that we didn’t disclose it at the right time. I’m incredibly proud of my time at CNN and look forward to continuing the great work we do everyday.”
Both Mr. Zucker and Ms. Gollust are divorced.
I guess he now gets to spend more time with, well, whoever.
