Clyburn Stays Mum On Endorsement | Talking Points Memo

Although Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) remains mum on who he will endorse in next week’s South Carolina primary, he was willing to share his thoughts on Democratic presidential candidates during an interview on MSNBC’s “Meet The Press” Sunday morning.

[Clyburn says he has] “worked very closely “with Sanders on many issues for the past 15 years

I wonder if that makes two of them who never got anything done.

" Biden Wants Clyburn’s Endorsement. Clyburn Has Yet To Budge."

I put the time down that this was said as a point of reference

House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn said Sunday that former Vice President Joe Biden might have “suffered” because of his performance in previous debates, costing him stronger finishes in early voting states."

This post has already been up for 20 minutes and there is entirely too little rampant speculation about why Clyburn is waiting.

On Tuesday night, Biden said in his post-debate remarks on MSNBC that he thinks he will “get the Clyburn endorsement” despite how the South Carolina Democrat said that he had no plans to endorse prior to the debate in the state.

That’s exactly the sort of stupid politics that’s sunk Biden’s campaign from the beginning. Good god he’s bad at this.

He’s a natural non-politician.

He made a passable Senator from MBNA, however.

Touché.

I thought Biden was still smarting that he wasn’t going to get the L. Graham endorsement.

Think he’s just telling Joe to step up his game. He’s right.

It would be interesting to know how Biden’s cash is holding out.
Many of the candidates got a nice bump the first half of February. Joe and Amy really needed it. Sanders, Warren and Pete have the most money on hand as of last week.
At some point, money is going to play a big role in deciding who wins.

You must be a Communist.

Or maybe a Democratic Socialist, but it’s all the same to me.

Some of us were in the ER wondering why a waiter would hand us a fajita platter … and we took it with our bare hands!

“The motor of blind idealism is when people say they’re voting with their conscience — which makes me sick; it’s so narcissistic — rather than voting strategically.”

  • Barbara Kruger

I think much of the interest in Sanders is fueled by the type of idealism Kruger references. It’s not that she’s against idealism, she just advocates it being reality tested and that is all any of us for who Sanders is not our first choice (but still agree with many of his ideas) are concerned about.

For most Americans it really is.

Biden’s entire campaign strategy seems to be waiting for the African-American voters in South Carolina to bail him out.

Not that he’s taking them for granted or anything…

when you’re going to sell your endorsement to the highest bidder, you don’t close the auction early.

Teach you a lesson.
